The Trudeau Liberals are expected to introduce long-promised legislation today that will lead to marijuana legalization and regulation over its sale by the middle of next year.
Measures are expected to include limits for legal possession, age restrictions for retailers, marketing rules, and tougher penalties for impaired driving.
Sources tell The Canadian Press the bill will also include rules requiring producers to sell their pot in plain packaging

Vancouver City Council has given the green light for two massive bike rides this summer.  It was a unanimous vote among council: $250,000 has been set aside to sponsor two “family- friendly” cycling events.  A staff report says ‘Our City Ride’ and ‘Bike the Night’ are expected to attract over 20,000 riders.

The official roll-out of the NDP election platform is coming this morning.  John Horgan will announce that an NDP government will continue to balance the budget from Year One in office. How is this possible with all the expensive promises Horgan has made?  The Province newspaper's Michael Smyth is here with his take on the day's headlines.

A Port Coquitlam city employee has been caught after stealing $175,000 of taxpayers’ money over a span of two and a half years.  The city’s Chief Administrative Officer, John Leeburn, says the employee used the city’s purchasing system and city credit card to buy tools.
