At just 13 years old, Noah has been training wrestling and jiu-jitsu for a number years.  He's a tough competitor and recognizes that benefits of both wrestling and jiu-jitsu in other areas of life.    

My son came home after week 1 of the police academy.  This is a dream he's had since he was a little kid and now he's going for it.  We talk about what the first week was like, what was hard, and what comes next. 

Shelby Jordan was a standout athlete with the world at her fingertips.  As a highly sought after softball player, she had an offer to attend the University of the South and then Vanderbilt to fulfill her dream of being a nurse.  But a minor surgery and the introduction of OxyContin would change her life.  Within seven years of graduating high school Shelby would be dead, leaving behind a grieving mother and father and young son.  Dennis is her father, and his story will touch your soul.  

Kenneth talks about his vision for the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department as he campaigns to be the next Sheriff.  

Tim Nance grew up in New England, amid ice and snow, and was educated by a variety of untraditional means, from small town one-room schoolhouse to homeschool to private city school. Eventually, his family moved to Tennessee where his parents had roots. He studied literature, French, and education, receiving his Masters in Education before spending twenty years as an educator, again in a variety of places and ways: University and Community College, public and private high school, work in teaching ESL courses to students from Costa Rica and China, homeschooling groups, and church groups. He has a beautiful family with five children and loves reading great books and pursuing creative projects with them. 

Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Gabriel moved to the U.S. in 2012 without having ever been outside of Rio de Janeiro!  He didn't speak English and had no experience with the culture in the United States.  But he followed his passion for jiu-jitsu and his goal of teaching.  He struggled through learning a new language, the ups and downs of establishing himself in a new country and is now the owner of Fight Zone Murfreesboro, a team Checkmat school where he is also the head instructor.  Gabe's story is truly an example of the American dream and what the road to success looks like.
