In this final episode, Samuel finds himself accosted by the crew and forced to sign drafts to pay them exorbitant wages on their return to London. Falling in with a convoy, Samuel returns to London in poor health and makes his final journal entries.

The passage across the Atlantic quickly deteriorates and contrary winds slow progress to a crawl and storms badly damage the ship. Winter had set in on the eastern coast of America by the time Samuel and the crew arrived making for a cold entry into New York.
