When we journey together as the people of God, scripture gives us hopeful evidence for things that will happen in our lives corporately and individually if we commit to the way of Jesus. My prayer is that we each walk away from our time together on on this podcast encouraged and transformed.

The Rich Young Ruler of the synoptic gospels asked Jesus this question, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?” A more modern seeker might pose the questions as, “What do I need to do to get to heaven?” While some in ancient Judaism might inquire, “What do I need to do to be in right standing with God?” Regardless of the generation asking, there has been an age old question humanity has wrestled with when it comes to being in right standing with our Heavenly Father. That question seems to be as old as Adam and Eve and yet each new generation seems to wrestle with this question anew. Listen as we explore this question by looking to see what the Old Testament prophet Micah has to say.

Over the last month, Pastor Mark (my husband…Pastor Mark, the Third) and I have been diligently asking God how he might have us start our time at BCC together. It feels appropriate to start by sharing my heart for God’s Church. I’ve always been a bit of a Jesus freak who just loved being in church. As I have journeyed as a pastor, through the ups and downs of ministry life, that love has continued to grow exponentially. For the last 7 years, I have made it a habit to read through the Bible every year. This practice, while difficult at times, has allowed the themes of God’s heart to jump off the holy pages of his Word in powerful ways. A theme that is hard to miss is God’s heart for togetherness. God’s design for his people is beautiful. It’s also messy and I love it!

Listen as we celebrate Pentecost…the day the promise of Christ was fulfilled…His Holy Spirit! One of the events on that day was the sound of a rushing mighty wind…the wind of His presence given to daily empower our lives!
Contrary to some current understanding, Holy Spirit is not an “It”…He is the moment by moment keeper of our heart, He is our guide, He the power to live as Christ called us to live…“… just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” – 1 Peter 1:15-16
There is a present need to rely more fully on the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and my desire is to put up the sail of our heart and let it be filled with His wind to be drawn in His direction, in His power.

Perhaps these names are familiar to you as you think about women in the Bible.  
But how about some of these?
Huldah. Lois. Lydia. Priscilla. Junia.
Scripture is brimming with examples of women who lead--women whose influence are integral to the story of God.  
Today, however, many question the role of women in leadership in the church.  Maybe this is a question you've never explored yourself. Maybe this is an issue you've heard a lot about in the past, and are wondering what the Bible has to say about the role of women in the church.  Whatever your background may be--let's explore God's Word together, examining the evidence of female leadership throughout Scripture--and remind ourselves why the question of women in the pulpit, for the Church of the Nazarene, has been settled since our denomination's inception in 1908.

At Bentonville Community Church, we aim to be a missional church, both locally and globally. Over this past year, BCC has engaged in many different missions, listen as we celebrate each of these. We also had the pleasure to hear from our very own Bessie Black who served as a missionary with her husband for many years. Listen as she talks about her missionary experience and missions happening around the world. In this podcast, we also hear about our partnership with the Bethesda School in Senegal, other global missions, and all of our involvement in local missions.

When we think of Jesus, we often don’t think about parties and celebrations. However, Jesus mentioned the parties that go on in heaven when lost people come to have faith in Him and in the Old Testament God gave commands to celebrate God’s goodness and provisions through a whole host of festivals. Well if they were celebrating milestones of God’s provision and faithfulness in the Old and New Testament, we should probably join the celebration.

A few months ago, we celebrated the words of an Angel who proclaimed that there was “Good News of great joy for all people.” That Good News is only possible because of what we celebrate together on Resurrection Day…the finished work of Jesus, conquering death and sin on our behalf, means that our lives and situations are never too dark for His love to overcome.
Our call is to be purveyors of this Good News, boldly declaring that He is Risen, and that His victory changes everything about our past, present, and future!
