A friend made a Vaguebook post and I knew he needed someone to talk to. We had a short conversation and I was grateful I saw his post.
On this episode I share the short conversation that we had.
I'd love to hear what you've done for guys in the past that are in a tough spot.
Shoot me an email or a PM with what you've done for a guy in a tough spot in life or what someone has done for you when you've been in a dark place...

The Kendrick Brothers are back. Today we talk about having fun with other guys AND men's discipleship.
The new movie "The Forge" is out at theaters now and the movie has a strong Iron Sharpens Iron theme and shows how one man and a group of men can help other men become better leaders, providers and friends.
We talk a bit about a future movie coming out called On Fire and what can be learned as we go through our own fires.
And yes, we do talk about the Death Crawl scene in Facing the Giants!
-What is a misconception about men's discipleship and what should it look like?
-How do you keep making movies? What is your process like?
-Who gets to define what success is?
-What can you do to make an impact? It can be simple.
Challenge: How can I love you better?
And there is a bonus challenge: Lord is there anything that stands in the way of me being closer to you?

Excited to share this episode with you. Last year, I got to see an early screening of THE FORGE with The Kendrick Brothers and some of the actors. You may have seen some of The Kendrick Brothers movies: FACING THE GIANTS, WAR ROOM, FIREPROOF, OVERCOMER, COURAGEOUS and others.
Their new movie comes on 8/23/2024! Please get your tickets today. Great to see with your family or a group of friends.
On this episode, we talk about fears, spiritual warfare, how they got into movies, discipleship, Adam Wainwright, and of course the new movie.
A short bit about the movie:
The Forge tells the story of Isaiah Wright, a 19 year old who lives for basketball and video games. A year out of high school, he still has no job, no plans and no idea of how to be a man. At odds with his single mom, he was given an ultimatum - to step up or move out.
And Isaiah is forced to deal with his past, sacrifice his selfishness and discover how God might have a great purpose for his life.
The cast of THE FORGE includes familiar farces such as Priscila Shirer (WAR ROOM, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE), Cameron Arnett (OVERCOMER, STAND YOUR GROUND), Karen Abercrombie (WAR ROOM, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3) and newcomer Aspen Kennedy.
How you can help: #1 Go see the movie! Opening weekend is very important. By doing so, it helps boost the sales numbers which encourages the movie theaters to add more showing times and to keep it in the theater for a longer time. #2 Share the movie with family, friends, and share on social media. If you like the movie, lots of your friends and family will too!
I think you'll enjoy the movie and I'll be uploading another episode with the Kendrick Brothers very soon. Hope you listen to that one and also let me know what you think of the podcast by writing a review on Apple Podcast!
Thank you for listening and sharing the show with dads you care about!

Husband, father, Marine, K9 Officer and A&E Top Dog Champion, Sgt Mark Tappan joins us this week. He's got over 5,000,000 Social Media followers and has written a couple of books.
Mark felt a calling to move across the country and start over in a new city. He shares an incredible story about an arrest he and his dog Mattis were involved in. It had me on the edge of my seat when I read it. I couldn't read fast enough!
The two things mark aims to do as a Police Officer are to Glorify God and make others safe. He seeks Justice and walks Humbly as he does this.
-How does parents attitudes towards police officers affect our children?

-Why should we live with Excellence and Integrity?
-How does Mark hear from God?
He shares a funny story about the first time he prayed the sinner's prayer.
This Week's Challenge: Find a teachable moment this week and share some of your insight with your children. Use this as a way to guide them and also build connection with them. Bonus points: You can look to share about the most important relationship you'll ever have.

Sam lives in Colorado with his wife and three sons. He's into camping, flyfishing and CrossfFit. His new book, "The Sex Talk You Never Got", was written to help men get past sexual struggle and John Eldredge (Author of Wild at Heart) says this book is "...the most important book on sexuality that you will ever read."
This book helps men:
On this episode we talk about how children get harmed and the effects of this. As parents, we need to be aware of what happened to us and also how to protect and guide our children. This is an important topic to talk about since 80% of men struggle with lust regularly.
-How can we learn how to respond instead of react?
-What are some Biblical examples that we might relate to?
-Where does our guilt and shame come from and what happens to our nervous system when shame kicks in?

Beth McCord is an accomplished Enneagram speaker, author, coach and teacher with over 2 decades of dedicated experience. Her passion lies in helping individuals rewrite their life stories, empowering them to realize that lasting change and meaningful relationships are possible.
I first became aware of Beth through her book, Becoming Us: Using the Enneagram to Create a Thriving Gospel-Centered Marriage and I was thrilled to be able to interview her about her new book.
My goal during this conversation was to help husbands understand how our wife's core motivations and desires shape her personality. And when we seek to understand our wife, we can grow in connection.
Men are simple and the Enneagram is a tool that can help us understand our wife, kids and others personality type which can help us communicate and connect at a higher level.
-Is there a cheat sheet at the back of the book?
-What did God create you, your wife and your kids to be?
-How can I learn why my wife does what she does by learning about her Core Fears, Desires, Weaknesses and Strengths?
-What is Confrontational Intimacy?

Gary Thomas has been on my wish list for quite some time! His books have helped me have a better marriage.
Husbands and wives stumble in many ways and sometimes we have struggles with toxic people. Gary says, "All toxic people are difficult, but not every difficult person is toxic."
Today we talk about how to cherish our wife, toxic relationships, expectations and of course Biblical wisdom on how to live our lives well.
When should I walk away from a toxic person and what are some permissible boundaries I can have with family members?
How do I know God is speaking to me?
Did you promise to Cherish your wife on your wedding day? If so, have you thought about what that means?
Why should we have Qualitative goals for our marriage vs Quantitive goals?
What can church do for us and what can we do for the church?
Are you looking for something more out of life OR want to email a comment about the podcast? If so, email me. Would love to hear what's going on and see how I can help. [email protected]

Community Builder and Storyteller, Matt "Ralph" Crossman joins us on this episode to share with us some stories from his life and lessons that he has learned as a man and a dad.
Loneliness is killing us, middle-aged men. And as a solopreneur, "Ralph" has intentionally help create community and connections by organizing workouts, adventure trips and challenges for men to engage in and connect at.
"Ralph" is famously know for creating MABA, Make America Burpee Again. Over 400 F3 men participated in January 2024 and did over 3,000,000 burpees that month. It's a simple challenge. 100 burpees a day, every day in January.
"Ralph" has discovered you can't be lonely if you are doing 100 burpees a day with friends. MABA also helps raise money for charity and has raised close to $100,000 in 5 years.
Doing things that make him uncomfortable and trying things that he isn't sure he can do has been an important part of his life. It helps keep life exciting, helps him stay in shape and most importantly allows him to connect with friends and family.
He routinely adds his wife and daughters into his adventures when they are willing. He share some stories of what he has learned as a husand and dad through his family.
And "Ralph" and I just helped write a book called Notes from Dad. A group of dads came together to write a book that shares stories and insights from our lives to help inspire and guide dads, moms and kids to lead purposeful lives that focus on what truly matters. This book just released last week and hit the #1 International Best-Seller rank on launch day. Truly incredible!
-When was the last time you did something for the first time?
-How do you do to keep excitement and community in your life?
-What do you to connect with other men and your family?

Today, what felt impossible actually happened!
Jason "Cherry Limeade" joins us on his book launch day! And mine! Yes, I wrote a chapter in this book that I am excited for dads to read.
Excited to share this book with you. Jason decided years ago that he wanted to make a difference and help dads become better dads! He started blogging over 10 years ago and a few years ago he decided to compile and Dad Anthology book.
He tells some great stories about how this book came together, how God literally saved his life one day and much more.
Today is Launch Day! I'd be grateful if you would consider buying this book today! And I'd love it if you would share this podcast and book with your friends.
I poured my heart and soul into what I wrote! And I know Jason devoted a few years of his life putting this book together!
