The Journey to Eurosong 2025: NIYL

Listen Later

The Journey to Eurosong 2025 continues! This year, six incredible artists will compete for the chance to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.

In this exciting mini-series, Conor, Lou, and Alex will dive deep into the songs vying for your vote and chat with the stars themselves ahead of the live show on The Late Late Show on February 7th.
In today's episode, we're joined by the final artist competing in the contest, NIYL! He is a Limerick-born artist whose distinctive sound blends emotionally charged vocals with a cinematic electronic style, creating powerful and original works. Influenced by artists such as London Grammar, Woodkid, and Yebba, NIYL aspires to carve out a fresh, innovative sound within the Irish music scene. Drawing from his upbringing in the west of Ireland and the rugged beauty of its coastal landscapes, NIYL channels his emotions into his songwriting as a form of catharsis, crafting lyrics that resonate deeply.
Passionate about representing the queer experience, NIYL’s music sheds light on the joys and challenges of being “queer in the county.” As a queer Irish artist, he is dedicated to amplifying queer culture in the Irish music industry. NIYL is currently releasing his debut album, 'Parish Is Burning', with tracks rolling out throughout 2025. Having already released three singles, he has garnered national recognition from outlets such as RTE 2FM, Today FM, Hotpress, Extra.ie, The Irish Independent, and the Irish Examiner.
As a solo artist, NIYL has performed as lead vocalist with the National Geographic Concert Orchestra for their award-winning 'Symphony for Our World' and headlined at Irish festivals including Doolin Folk Fest, Live on Air, and Go Tobann. Internationally, in 2018, NIYL joined Tony Award-winning performer Cynthia Erivo for a week-long residency at St. James’s Theatre, London, performing the works of composer Scott Alan. As a backing vocalist, he has worked with renowned artists such as Rufus Wainwright and Dermot Kennedy.
He'll be singing his song, 'Growth' on Eurosong 2025.
