  • Little Red Riding Hood by Charles Perrault

Season 1: Old Favorite Fairy Tales

This week I introduce the earliest known version of Little Red Riding Hood by Charles Perrault. Perrault was a French author who lived during the 1600's. Presumably he created and performed this story for the court of King Louis the XIV. Moral of the Story: Obey your parents and be cautious when speaking with strangers; if you disregard this advice there are many wolves in the world ready to eat you up.

  • Cinderella retold by Miss Mulock

    Season 1: Old Favorite Fairytales

Not much of an introduction needed here. The Cinderella story we are reading today was retold by Dinah Craik (kreik) often called Miss Mulock. She lived in the 1800’s in England and produced many fine works for children and others. Morale of the Story: Natural talents plus trust in providence = a good life.

  • Pen and Inkstand by Hans Christian Anderson

    Season 1: Old Favorite Fairytales

A literary fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson first published in 1860. A famous poet had a pen and an inkstand. The pen and the inkstand used to continuously fight as to who was the greatest of the two. The inkstand thought that if it was not for him, men would never have produced such great stories and become famous. The pen argued that the inkstand only provided the raw material. What they forgot was the true master and creator, the poet! Moral of the story: how often do we boast of taking credit for our creations, forgetting that we are actually an instrument in the hands of the biggest creator—God!”

  • The Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Anderson

Happy New Year! Another special edition full cast production. Brought to you by a collaboration between the Hasse and Sorci Households.

An old favorite written by Hans Christian Anderson. The story tells of a homely little bird born in a barnyard who suffers abuse from the others around him until, much to his delight (and to the surprise of others), he matures into a beautiful swan, the most beautiful bird of all. The lesson in the story is how important it is to know your True identity - that of a child of God and belonging to a household.
