Louise Wall was a provisional in 1951 and became President in 1963. She led during a time when the League was redefining their purpose. Louise recalls the years of fundraising with the KY Horse Show Program and members modeling in the Stewart Style shows. She went on to serve on the Association of Junior Leagues Regional Nominating committee and continued her work with the Recording for the Blind long after her active years.
Mary Sullivan joined the League in 1981 and served as President from 2004 to 2005. She has seen the League through changes in admissions policies and changes in membership. Mary came to Louisville through her work with Metro United Way and championed many projects in the community.
Emily Lawrence joined the Junior League of Louisville in 1981 and served as President from 1991 to 1992. Emily was the first working mother to serve in this role during a time when more women were joining the workforce and diversity became a top priority.
Mary Ellen Wiederwohl joined Junior League in 1999 and served as President from 2009 to 2010. She served in many capacities with a flair for public affairs and strategic planning.
Dr. Anita Barbee was our first President with a Ph.D. and transferred to the Leauge after joining in Georgia. Anita served during a major transition as we sold our office downtown and tackled families-at-risk and women’s health. She was President from 1998 to 1999.
Christi Lanier Robinson joined the League in 1996 and was President from 2005 to 2006. Christi ushered in our 85th Anniversary with a focus on growing our endowment to 1 million dollars. During her time the JLL office was moved from 2nd Street to Kosair Charities.
