Award-Winning, Finnish Blues Singer and Songwriter Ina Forsman calls in to The Junk and Jam Hour - all the way from Berlin, Germany - to discuss the joys and challenges of the work she had to put in to ensure that her latest, and third solo album, entitled 'All There Is' , was not just an exceptional collection of soul and blues music, but one that showcased her growth and evolution as an artist.

Hailed as a contemplative songwriter, and a "vocal powerhouse," Ina's amazing musical journey began when she declared at six-years-old, that she was going to.be a singer, and started touring with a band at the age of 17. Other than discussing her upbringing, Ina shares her inspiration for some of her latest music, in particular lyrics that were born from the conversations she has recently had with the men in her life, and how some of the music was derived from the classic Motown sound. She also shares her passion for the blues genre, and how it has shaped her as an artist of soul.

Award-Winning Writer and Author, Survivor and Advocate Jenna Ashlyn drops in to the The Junk and Jam Hour via Zoom, to talk all bout her life's work as a writer, which started at the age of 8, and how that skill has helped her cope and find joy after becoming a young widow, and surviving sexual violence and domestic abuse. She also shares how she uses her platform to encourage other survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and those battling mental health issues, to continue striving for a greater life after trauma.

Jenna also recounts some of the autobiographical detail from her debut novel, Within the Gray, which follows a young widowed mother named Terra as she navigates the world after her husband’s death, and her 2022 follow-up, Sheila's Men, about a naïve romantic living in poverty -- who blindly marries a man in the hopes of providing a better life for herself and her daughter -- and finds herself subjected to emotional, physical, and sexual abuse.

She not only talks in depth about her survival story, but about her life’s mission, dedicating her time and talents as voice for others, and as a volunteer for Southern Ohio’s Survivor Advocacy Outreach Program, providing support and services to victims of abuse. He’s also one-half of the Dance-Electronic Duo, Baircave – with vocalist Ellen Perez – and together have been a fan-favorite since their 2016 debut EP, Hijinx.

Hip-Hop Artist, Lyricist, Producer and Activist Luna Clipse calls in to The Junk and Jam Hour - all the way from Bulgaria - to talk about his triumphant journey in music, which began when he was mentored by his grandfather, who happened to be an extraordinary big band jazz musician, yet was so much of a stern tutor, that it led Luna to discover his own unique way of how to compose music for himself.

Challenged by his own mental illness, Luna opens up about his very first bipolar manic episode, that found him alone in a hotel room hearing voices and visions that specifically called upon him to stop a looming apocalypse - which led to a dramatic scene enough for him to be imprisoned at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility for the Criminally Insane - the largest mental institution in the U.S.

Luna talks about how he quickly learned how to use rhyming - or clang association - as a means to communicate with his other inmates, a particular trait that those inflicted with psychotic phases of bipolar disorder share; and the importance of building relationships with his fellow inmates - all of whom had to survive constant physical, emotional and mental abuse at the hands of those who ran the institution.

Luna talks about how he aggressively used his trauma and anger he harbored after his release in local rap battles, until Jerry Wonda - multi-Grammy Award winning producer for the Fugees, Justin Bieber and Michael Jackson - convinced him to not only use that pain more positively to create music with a purpose, but to also be a voice for all those affected by bipolar and other mental ailments.

We also listen to and discuss his debut track entitled, 'Lunacy' - and Luna gifts us with a special, impromptu lyrical evocation of the experience of being driven mad, his life spinning out of control, and the trauma that ensued. He also talks about his important work to destigmatize mental health issues, and how he - along with his partnership with NAMI - are making the cause and topic of mental illness, 'sexy' enough to care and talk about, and blesses us with the track, 'Scalped Eagle', produced with Havoc of the infamous Mobb Deep.

Singer, Songwriter, Producer, Musician and Multi-instrumentalist Jess Yaffa visits The Junk and Jam Hour - in person with Christopher in the studio, no less - to talk about her incredible journey in music, which began at the age of four when she started to sing and discover her beautiful voice, before adding the piano, guitar and ukelele to her artistry and musicianship as a teenager.

Now as a stellar songwriter who has worked with Grammy-winning producer Scott Jacoby - she shared her excitement about the release her upcoming new EP “Thoughts That Keep Me Up at Night”, which includes the upbeat pop track ‘Too Soon’ -- that Daily Music Roll.com calls, "...a fresh and dynamic track." Before divulging how that song came about and how much of her life she shares in it, she also talks about her new single, 'Taylor' – in which music review magazine The Further called, “…a magnificent pop track with hints of rock, [with] addictive melodies and a memorable vocal performance ..”

On topic, Jess talked about learning how to effectively communicate - especially when collaborating; how she balances being both a student and a musician - finding new ways to navigate through her studies and craft, particularly during the pandemic; how she has learned to embrace change, and show others through her music how to break past their own comfortability to discover a better way to live life for themselves (or as she would say and sing, 'Sundays are Gone'); the specialness of the music community and being connected and uplifted through the artform; and she also opens up about learning from her past choices - in relationships or otherwise - and being more retrospective rather than judgmental when revisiting those choices in hindsight.
