  • INSIGHT: Be There

    BE THERE: Let’s Finish Together

What would you want your children and grandchildren to remember after you're gone?

For Ernie Brother, the answer comes down to two words:

    Be there.

Years ago, he told his children that reading, writing, and arithmetic were important—but something mattered infinitely more: that the family would someday finish together in Heaven.

In this deeply personal edition of The Kamber Commentary 28:20 INSIGHT, Ernie leaves a message for his children and grandchildren—and ultimately for every family: earthly success matters far less than knowing Jesus Christ, faithfully finishing the race, and spending eternity together with the Lord.

Drawing from John 14:1–6, 2 Timothy 4:7, and 3 John 4, this episode asks one unforgettable question:

When your race is over, will you be there?

    Follow Jesus.
    Stay with Him.
    Finish your race.

    And whatever you do…

    BE THERE.

  • INSIGHT: There's Always Next Year

    THERE'S ALWAYS NEXT YEAR

    Four innocent words.

    “There's always next year.”

We say things like that all the time—tomorrow, next time, someday, next year—because we naturally assume there will be another opportunity.

But James warns us, “You do not know what tomorrow will bring.” (James 4:14)

After the sudden death of a friend, an ordinary comment made only days earlier became a sobering reminder: we can plan for tomorrow, but we cannot presume upon it.

This INSIGHT isn't about living afraid of tomorrow. It's about faithfully using today.

    Make the call.
Say what needs to be said.
    Forgive.
    Love.
    Serve.
    Obey.

And above all, don't postpone responding to Jesus Christ.

Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow belongs to God. Today is where obedience lives.

  • INSIGHT: I'm Yelling Because I Love You

We often speak about God's love, grace, and mercy—but what happens when we stop talking about His holiness, judgment, and wrath?

In this INSIGHT from The Kamber Commentary 28:20, Ernie Brother examines a simple but powerful truth: sometimes love warns.

If a child is walking toward danger, a loving parent doesn't remain silent. In the same way, God's warnings throughout Scripture are not evidence that He is unloving; they reveal the seriousness of the danger of sin and help us understand the extraordinary mercy offered through Jesus Christ.

This episode examines three things the enemy would love to accomplish: convincing unbelievers they can reject Christ without concern, convincing believers there is no urgency in sharing the Gospel, and robbing God of glory by causing us to forget just how astonishing His mercy really is.

Because the person who understands the seriousness of God's wrath can stand in even greater amazement at the magnitude of God's mercy.

Sometimes love whispers. Sometimes love comforts. But when someone is headed toward danger—sometimes love yells.

  • INSIGHT: When God Goes Silent

What would happen if the Word of God were still desperately needed—but could no longer be heard?

In Amos 8:11–12, God warned Israel of a coming famine unlike any they had experienced before—not a famine of bread or a thirst for water, but “of hearing the words of the LORD.” The terrifying part was not that God’s Word had never been available. It was that they had repeatedly heard it, ignored it, resisted it, and eventually the warning became silence.

Today, we live in a time when access to Scripture is almost unlimited. Bibles, apps, sermons, podcasts, studies, and translations are everywhere. But having access to God’s Word is not the same as hearing, receiving, and obeying God’s Word.

In this INSIGHT, we examine the danger of continually postponing obedience, the importance of responding while God is speaking, and the sobering warning of Hebrews: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”

Don’t wait for a famine to appreciate the food God has already placed before you.

    If God is speaking—HEAR IT.

  • INSIGHT: PRIDE - "Look at Me", "Don't Look at Me"

Pride is easy to recognize when it says, “Look at me.” But what happens when pride says, “Please don’t look at me”?

In this INSIGHT from The Kamber Commentary 28:20, we look at the less obvious side of pride—the kind that can hide behind embarrassment, people-pleasing, perfectionism, fear of criticism, and even false humility.

Not every shy person is prideful, and not every confident person is arrogant. The deeper question is this:

    What is controlling the heart?

When protecting our image becomes more important than obeying God, serving others, or faithfully using the gifts He has given us, pride may be operating in ways we do not recognize.

Drawing from Philippians 2:3–8 and Galatians 1:10, this episode challenges us to move beyond the question, “What will people think of me?” and ask instead:

“What does God require of me?”

    Because pride may say:

    “Look at me.”

    And pride may also say:

    “Don’t look at me.”

    But humility says:

“Lord, whether they notice me or not, I will obey You.”

  • SIDEBAR: Why Prayers May Not Be Answered

In this SIDEBAR edition of The Kamber Commentary 28:20, we examine eight biblical reasons prayers may not be answered—or may not be answered in the way we expected:

    1. We have not truly asked.
    2. We are cherishing unrepentant sin.
    3. We are wavering in doubt.
    4. We are asking with wrong motives.
    5. We are holding on to unforgiveness.
    6. We are ignoring the cries of the hurting.
    7. We are dishonoring our spouse or neglecting our responsibilities at home.
    8. God has a better answer than the one we requested.

This lesson is not intended to make believers afraid to pray or to give us ammunition for judging someone else’s spiritual life. It is meant to serve as a mirror through which we honestly examine our own hearts.

Prayer is not about persuading God to align Himself with our will. Prayer brings our desires, motives, relationships, and decisions into alignment with His will. Sometimes God answers, “Yes.” Sometimes He says, “Wait,” “Not yet,” “Not that way,” or, “I have something better.”

When heaven seems silent, God may actually be inviting us to come closer, repent, forgive, trust, obey, and surrender.

Prayer is not only about what we are asking God to do. It is also about who we are becoming while we ask.

  • INSIGHT: WHO’S RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR CHILD’S EDUCATION?

Who is ultimately responsible for educating a child—the school, the church, the teacher, or the parent?

Scripture places the primary responsibility much closer to home.

In this INSIGHT, we look at the biblical pattern of parents teaching, training, and discipling their children through everyday life. Deuteronomy 6 reminds us that biblical education is more than classroom instruction—it is life-on-life discipleship.

Homeschooling may be one way a family chooses to carry out that responsibility, but the larger biblical principle applies to every Christian parent:

You may delegate some instruction, but you cannot delegate discipleship.

    The school may teach algebra.
    The coach may teach discipline.
    The church may teach Scripture.

But parents have been given the responsibility to help their children understand how all of life fits under the truth of God’s Word.

The question is not simply, “Where does your child go to school?”

    The deeper question is:

    “Who is discipling your child?”

  • Matthew 21:33-46 The Rejected Son and the Stolen Vineyard

In Matthew 21:33–46, Jesus tells the Parable of the Wicked Tenants—a powerful confrontation with Israel’s religious leaders and a warning about rejecting God’s authority.

The landowner carefully prepares his vineyard and entrusts it to tenants, but when he sends his servants to collect what is rightfully his, they are beaten, stoned, and killed. Finally, he sends his own son, believing they will respect him. Instead, the tenants kill the son in an attempt to seize the inheritance for themselves.

Jesus makes the message unmistakable: God had repeatedly sent His prophets to His people, and now He had sent His Son. Yet the very leaders entrusted with caring for God’s vineyard were preparing to reject and kill Him.

In this L.O.A.D. Bible Study, we examine the vineyard, the tenants, the servants, the Son, the rejected cornerstone, and Jesus’ sobering declaration that “the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits.”

This passage forces us to ask an uncomfortable but necessary question: Are we merely occupying what God has entrusted to us, or are we producing the fruit He expects?

This episode is part of our continuing L.O.A.D. Bible Study through the Gospel of Matthew.

  • INSIGHT: NOT BY SIGHT - When What You See Is Not the Final Word

What happens when everything you can see seems to contradict what God has said?

Our circumstances are real—but they are not the whole story. Scripture reminds us that believers are called to “walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Faith does not deny the storm, ignore the diagnosis, dismiss the financial problem, or pretend the giant is not standing in front of us. Faith simply refuses to give what we see more authority than what God has said.

In this Kamber Commentary 28:20 INSIGHT, we look at the difference between acknowledging our circumstances and allowing those circumstances to determine our conclusions. From Joshua and Caleb to Peter walking on the water, Scripture repeatedly shows us that the same situation can produce two very different responses depending on which voice we choose to trust.

What you see may be real—but it does not get the final word. God does.

  • INSIGHT: EVEN NOW - It Isn't Too Late

Have you ever wondered if you’ve wandered too far, failed too many times, or simply waited too long to come back to God?

Joel 2:12 contains two powerful words: “Even now.” God’s invitation to return is not based on how well we have performed, how little we have failed, or how quickly we got things right. He calls us to return to Him with all our heart.

In this INSIGHT, we look at the difference between regret and genuine repentance, the enemy’s lie that yesterday’s failures have disqualified us from tomorrow’s restoration, and the incredible patience and mercy of God.

If you still hear His call, the door is still open.

    Even now… return to Me.
