We need to feel stuck in order to get unstuck. There's value in sitting with those uncomfortable feelings. That dissonance helps us grow.

Improvement requires growth, and growth requires taking risks and making mistakes. That last part—that’s the part we don’t like. We want improvement without the ugly stuff. We want improvement without the risk of failure and looking foolish. But we can’t have one without the other. Join me in this latest episode in a discussion of the importance of facing fears and taking risks on our journey towards self-improvement.

Why is it so easy to create some habits but so tough to create others? The typical advice out there—practise something consistently over a certain period of time, such as 21 days—doesn’t always work. And when this seemingly reasonable formula doesn’t work for us, it can be incredibly demoralizing. It turns out that there’s an important piece missing, a piece that can make the whole process of habit-building so much easier. Join me in this latest episode in a discussion of the best way to create habits quickly and easily. No willpower or discipline required.

Every martial artist knows that consistency is what gets results. If you want to kick ass at martial arts, you need to put in the reps on a consistent basis. But what people don’t talk about is the downside of consistency: that point at which your routine becomes a prison.
