“I feel like my job in the world is to get to a point in this world where we don’t have to say female entrepreneur and we just say you are an entrepreneur.” - Shashi Behl, Owner/Founder, Joydrop.
Another panel of strong, successful business owners!
I specifically asked for an all female entrepreneurs panel because let's face it, when creating my business, although I faced challenges, they were different challenges from what women face. So we invited Jenn Lofgren, Founder of Incito Executive and Leadership Development, Amanda Ovaici, Co-founder of Cafe Alchemist and YYC FuckUp Nights, and Shashi Behl, Founder and Owner of Joydrop.
But what I found incredibly interesting about this panel is although each of them did not shy away from the struggles they faced, they didn't dwell on it. Their goal is to build a future where any young entrepreneur of any gender, race, etc., can think to themselves "I'm going to start a business".
We discuss why the traits that made them "bad" employees made them incredible employers, the most ridiculous things people have said to them, and how they run their business with grace and strength, even through all the bullshit.
