Yeah, I get it.  It is extremely hard to forgive in many situations, especially those that cause us religious trauma.  What's more, often the person or persons who have hurt us don't ask or even feel they need to ask.  So, what do we do?  I believe we still need to forgive if we ever want to heal our trauma.  But, before you jump down my throat here, please take a listen to this podcast teaching.  In it, I give you 4 things to think about when it comes to healing.  I think it will help you as much as it continues to do for me.  

Remember, forgiveness isn't easy.  Don't beat yourself up.  But, please take it seriously for your own good.

Just before COVID hit, my life took a real turn.  I had worked hard to achieve a church vocational position that I was excited to have been working and growing.  Unfortunately, due to some changes in my live, mostly around divorce and remarriage, things there got complicated.  So, believing it was best for them and me...and believing it was what God wanted...I quit.  

Unfortunately, on the heels of that decision, COVID did raise its ugly head and because my then main source of work and income was through public appearances as a speaker and performer (comedy magician), I lost that as well.

Can I tell you that was a one-two to the gut?  I was forced to bend my knees and figure out what was next.  Most people would think me ready to pack up my cleats and retire.  Nope...not in my picture or plans.  So...I had some thinking and praying to do.  What you are witnessing now is a rebirth of who I am and a new way of doing what I have been doing for over 30 years.  At the core...I am a teacher and a healer.  

In this podcast you are going to hear my raw emotions about this change in life.  Now don't be fooled in thinking this has been easy.  It hasn't.  But, I am happier than I have been in years.  I am more excited than I have been in years.  And I am more hopeful than I have been in years.  

What's more, I have four truths that I have hung on to throughout this process.  In this episode, I will share those with you.  

So, hear me good...it's never too late.  You're never too old .  As long as you have breath, there is much for you to accomplish.

I am so excited to share this interview I did with Matt Linden.  You will really hear the heart of this young man as he shares a little about his life struggle and the journey he has been on to truly connect with God and understand his faith.  

Matt Linden is a gay Christian from Tacoma, Washington. He’s a church kid who grew up in a conservative non-denominational environment – so when he realized he was gay at 13, a 21-year battle began to reconcile his faith with his sexuality. He was a member and Community Group leader at Mars Hill Church in Seattle from 2008-2014, and after finally coming out in 2019 at age 34, he resolved to tell his story. On his blog, The Crossing (crossingblog.com), Matt tells the story of his religious trauma in memoir format. His hope is to help himself heal and sort out his own theology, as well as let others know they are not alone in the struggle to follow Jesus as LGBTQ Christians.

It often amazes me how God brings certain people into our paths.  Such is he case for my guests today.  Brian and Brielle are a married couple in Washington state who simply found me on Instagram and started following.  I happened to notice them and looked into them and was fascinated by what they believe to be a God calling.  I found it quite fascinating because this talented couple has begun a project where they will write a song for each Psalm in the Bible.  When I saw that, I had to know more. 

In this interview, you will learn a little more about this neat couple, their past experiences with church, and where they are today.  What's more, you will hear how they are simply trying to use their gifts to bless others and serve God.  Isn't that a good thing?  Hint Hint...

Let's face it...the church historically has been guilty of mistreating, defaming, and even worse.  What's more, in over 30 years of doing this work, I have seen so many folks dealing with the baggage that has been caused by others within the church.  Now, let me be clear when I say...I love the church.  I believe in the church.  I think there is importance to the church.  But, I also know the church (meaning those who make it up) have been guilty of very mean and lethargies things. 

In today's episode, I speak directly from the heart as I share what I believe are the 4 steps of faith healing.  This is a broad stroke explanation and certainly not at a level that is available through professional counseling or even coaching with someone like me.  But it is the 4 broad steps that I have seen time and time again within my work that people take as part of their recovery and growth.  In this episode, I share those with you.  What's more, you will hear a part of this recording that shows a little of the pain that I sometimes feel even to this day.

There is perhaps  no bigger "hotbed" subject within the church today than is the subject of the LGBTQ+ and the church.  As I stated on another recent episode, this is a passion of mine.  Why?  Because I have seen too much trauma, hate, and attacks within the church toward these individuals who just want to love Jesus, serve Him and have a place to belong.  I have taken the time to truly sit down and study the verses others use to "clobber" the community and believe they can easily be interpreted differently than the traditional evangelical way.

In this episode, I have the pleasure of interviewing The Rev. Dr. Marcia Ledford, a civil rights attorney, Episcopal Priest, and the founder of Political Theology Matters, LLC, where she works tirelessly to help the faithful develop public theology mission for greater social justice.

I think far too many of us Christians are walking around almost oblivious to the mighty hand of God in our lives.  What's more, we seem to talk more about unanswered prayer (how we want I mean) than do we discuss answered prayer (meaning we got what we hoped and prayed for).  The truth is...there is both.  In fact, there are 3 ways God answers prayer: 1) Yes, 2) No, and 3) Wait.  We often hear about how we are to accept God's decision and many of us seem to expect the "NO."  But what about when God says, "Yes?" And He does say yes many times.  My main question today is: How to we respond to Answered Prayer?  Give a listen to the episode that comes from Mark 10 and you will see better what I mean.  

And just to be clear (because I should have said it better in the podcast), God answers ALL prayer.  What I mean, and should have said more clearly, is: What do we do when God answers our prayer with a "YES?"
