In 1957, a group of nine black teens enrolled into a formally all white school in Little Rock, Arkansas. Their attendance at the school was a test of Brown v. Board of Education, a landmark in the 1954 supreme court ruling that declared segregation in public schools as unconstitutional.
My guest today is Melba Pattillo Beals, one of the Little Rock Nine who so courageously volunteered to attend Central High that day.
Her book, “I will not fear: My story of a lifetime of building faith under fire” is out now.
