Humanual may be one of the best books I have ever had the pleasure to read, and speaking with the author, Betsy Polatin, was s special treat unto itself.
Betsy Polatin, MFA, SEP is an internationally recognized breathing/movement specialist and best-selling author. She has been teaching for more than forty years and is currently a master lecturer at Boston University’s College of Fine Arts. Her background includes forty-five years of movement education and performance, as well as training in the Alexander Technique, music, dance, yoga, meditation, trauma resolution, and the broader healing arts. Her work is greatly influenced by the teachings of Spiritual and Meditation Masters.
Betsy leads international trainings where she presents her unique and revolutionary fusion of ideas: scientific knowledge combined with ancient wisdom and intuitive human creativity. Since 2016, she has been co-teaching ongoing workshops with Peter A. Levine, PhD. And she has taught “Returning to Ourselves, the Wisdom of Trauma,” with Dr. Gabor Maté. Betsy’s previous book, The Actor’s Secret, was featured on ABC TV and Fox News, and received rave reviews. As a well-known educator, she has published numerous articles in the Huffington Post. She maintains a private practice online internationally.
I left this interview feeling calm, happy, and in a state of flow and expansion. I wish the same for anyone who chooses to listen to it!

If you like science and sobriety, you'll love this episode. Gillian Tietz is the host and producer of The Sober Powered Podcast, where she uses her own story and scientific knowledge to break down complex concepts of how alcohol affects our brains, bodies, and biochemistry.
Gill is a biochemist in the Boston area. She has recently celebrated 1 year of sobriety, after 5 years of attempting to learn how to moderate her drinking. When she quit drinking, she became passionate about researching addiction science. Using her scientific background, she set out on a quest to learn why she can't drink like everyone else. Gill loves to share this information and hopes she can help people either quit drinking a little sooner or to reduce their shame around being a problem drinker.
Gillian is a delight and shares her story in a beautiful and open manner, bringing so much relatability to the show. We talk about the many factors that can influence a person to become a problem drinker or alcoholic, and ways we can begin to change our lives for the better if we do identify as problem drinkers.
This is a sweet and well informed episode, so much so that I had to publish it right away and share it with all of you!

Please join me for an episode seeped in very grounded magic with Judy Lemon. Judy is a shamanic practitioner and Somatic Experiencing trauma therapist (SEP) who brings years of comprehensive training and knowledge into her work. She has studied and apprenticed with Native and other master teachers in Europe, the United States and throughout Latin America. Judy draws upon her extensive experience with multiple modalities such as energy healing, ceremonial work, and trauma therapy to create an individual plan for each client’s healing and spiritual development.
She has just published her first work, a short story called "The Magic Tree," which is part of the anthology, "Crappy to Happy." A full-length memoir, called "Machete Woman," about her days as a shamanic apprentice will be published soon.
We discuss her journey within the world of shamanism, what it was like to be a woman in the jungle, and how important staying centered is when working with elemental energy. We also had plenty of time to talk about one of my favorite subjects, Somatic Experiencing, and the very specific ways Judy uses this work in conjunction with her Shamanic practices.
This is a wonderful episode that left me feeling expansive and open to magic and wonder. See what it does for you!

Join me for a lively chat with Emily Golden, and learn what all about the New Golden Rule! She recently published a book by the same name, and lets us in on some of the highlights she covers between the pages.
Emily Golden is a professional certified coach who specializes in executive leadership and career coaching. She has seventeen years of corporate human resources experience; practical experience from more than 2,500 hours of coaching; and a deep understanding of the human mind, spirit, and potential. Her clients range from seasoned executives to emerging leaders, to career changers who utilize her support to close the gap between where they are and where they want to be.
Emily’s ontological approach allows individuals to clarify their goals, shift beliefs and habits, take risks, execute brilliance, and make quantum leaps rather than incremental improvements. Her patience and brilliance allow others to discover “ah-ha” moments that enable what once seemed impossible. As a result, her clients emerge as leaders who bring value, impact, and connection to their professional and personal lives.
Emily and I chat about making profound life changes without a huge event taking place as a catalyst, and at finding your passion with your work.
Emily offers wonderful insights into ways to take better care of ourselves and highlight our own strengths, while being aware of areas for growth.
Emily is a dynamic, warm hearted guest who brings a fresh approach to the world of personal development.

If you are a woman, please listen to this amazing episode with Cree Cox as she discusses the power behind understanding our cycles and natural hormonal rhythms.
Cree Cox is a spiritual guide and menstrual maven who is leading a sacred rebellion of a menstrual revolution. She is on a mission to normalize the conversation around not just menstruation, but the menstrual cycle as a whole. Through one on one coaching and her group program Embody Your Flow, Cree inspires women to connect with the intelligent wisdom of their bodies and their wombs, by teaching them to live life in sync with their natural rhythm and flow.
I have been obsessed with this topic for the past year, since I first got a taste of understanding my own hormonal cycle, not as a monthly annoyance, but as a place of power. Learning the ways in which our bodies change throughout the month places us in a position to work WITH our hormones, instead of feeling we are constantly doing battle with them
Cree has a wonderful holistic and earth centric approach. She offers practical strategies to begin tapping into your bodies inner wisdom and understanding your own cycles.

Kim assists clients all over the world through her online courses and group retreats. She shares a weekly live MindBody TV broadcast in the MindBody Community in Facebook and can be found at DrKimD.com

Nicole is an amazing woman and a kindred spirit, she came on to chat with me about her latest book, 24 Ways to Move More, being released on October 1st.

She also shares some amazing and fun ways to become inspired by movement, and to have fun in your body, no matter if you are a long time fitness aficionado, or a new beginner.
Nicole is a fitness expert and yoga teacher based in Seattle, who for six years wrote the popular Fit for Life column in The Seattle Times, published in Pacific NW Magazine. Join me for an incredibly fun, heartfelt, and informative episode with Nick Bognar. Nick is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in Pasadena, California. Although Nick's clinical focuses are men's issues and codependency, his mission is to help people become who they wish they could be- both in self-acceptance and in leading a more exemplary life.

Guess what, I was right!
We covered so many topics, from why vulnerability isn’t taught to men at young ages, how the times are changing now, and the benefits of therapy in introducing a safe space to be vulnerable and experience a wide range of emotions.
We also laugh, a lot, and it is a delight to discuss so many of these very important topics from a wonderfully heartfelt and human perspective. If you are a woman and want to understand men a little better, give this episode a listen. If you are a man and want to understand men a little better, give this episode a listen!
