Our present mindset towards recovery is much too passive. Relapse is a potential, not an option. Let us think of " Emergency" the first and every time threats to life and future present themselves.

Recovery is not a destination; it is a direction. To think of endpoints slows the velocity and limits the possibilities. We should all strive for the act ( or acting) of recovery and the transformation it brings.

The Mantra, " Leave no man ( no person) behind," has given ultimate confidence to our most respected fighting forces. Each person in the battle for recovery deserves that same confidence.

The Aesop fable, The tortoise and the Hare, can be considered a worthy cliche for the recovery process. Cliche or not. This ( The recovery process) is a race between life and death.

Today's podcast speaks to what I believe are the four most important areas to be addressed when formulating a recovery plan. Some aspects of each are a must for a long-lasting and complete recovery.

Dope Sick: Second Impression
My thoughts on 3 character types and their relationship to the treatment process. The Unwitting, the Unscrupulous, and the Undecided. These pose the biggest threat of distraction for families needing and wanting professional assisted recovery. The only protection from the harmful effects of the trio is a promotion of self (family) reliance.

Try these three things as a family.
*Expand the base of support. Look to involve respected relatives, old teachers, community leaders. You never know which straw of support will help break the back of an addiction problem.
*Identify and attack an empowering destination. While respecting the present and treatable situation, attention must fixate on a life-changing reality.
*Every minute being progressive is a minute stolen from self-destruction. Don't take for granted any moments when healing. Every positive thought and action is treatment in and of itself.

The first and basic impressions of the Hulu mini-series Dope sick. The hook and vehicle is the Pain. Pain is the source and the reason to help and to exploit. Episode 1 highlights it physically and socially and we contrast it with our intentions, as professional helpers and healthcare workers, towards the people helped and harmed by this crisis.
