Many small business owners might assume that ADA compliance is only necessary for large corporations, but this is a misconception. Businesses of all sizes must understand and implement ADA guidelines. The ADA established requirements for private businesses of all sizes, which took effect on January 26, 1992, and apply to both for-profit and non-profit organizations. For small businesses, compliance with the ADA is manageable and straightforward. However, failing to comply can result in costly lawsuits and fines, which can have significant financial repercussions for small businesses. Ensuring compliance helps avoid these potential legal issues.

The concept of business is commonly understood as a commercial activity that aims to generate returns for the owner(s). This is generally viewed within a pure capitalist framework where entrepreneurs start businesses to make a profit and accumulate wealth over the long term. While this perspective is not necessarily wrong, it does present a limited view of business that may unintentionally encourage the natural propensities of the flesh.
As followers of Jesus, Our High Priest, our spiritual transformation should affect our approach to business. We don't view our businesses as personal possessions, but rather as "kingdom businesses" or businesses that belong to the King. This means that we recognize the ultimate ownership of our businesses as belonging to God, and we align our efforts with a higher purpose. This broader perspective on the role of business emphasizes the importance of serving others and making a positive impact on the world.
