On Saturday 29th November at 7pm the village was cold and crisp and even when the annual Christmas lights display was switched on by Coral Rough of Haig Street, the youngest child in the School.

I write for the last time and to say a farewell to the folks of Portknockie. My family and I are moving to Wishaw near Glasgow at the beginning of July to take up a new charge. I have enjoyed my time in this part of the country but it’s time to be moving on.

A review of Scottish Parliament boundaries has proposed a change to the area presently, covered by the Moray parliamentary constituency. Buckie, Portknockie, Findochty and Cullen will be incorporated in a new county constituency called Buchan Coast stretching around the Moray Firth coastal strip to Peterhead.

2008, A YEAR TO LOOK FORWARD TO OR JUST ANOTHER PASSING YEAR ? As the Christmas and Hogmanay celebrations approach and we finally turn the corner on dark nights and murky mornings, it is natural to feel more hopeful and optimistic about the future - the New Year of 2008. Blue sky thinking can lead us to be ambitious and visionary about our plans. What are YOUR hopes for next year?
