QA automation has been prevalent over decades in the Software Testing Industry, and it’s continuing to mature to pace up with a wide variety of technologies, programming languages, and methodologies. While QA automation has helped enhance the test coverage, lower overall QA costs, and accelerate test cycles, we’ve only touched the tip of the iceberg.
QA automation engineers still run into challenges during test script development, test execution, and maintenance phases. QA teams in the Agile Sprint continue to start with test automation activities only after the first version of the applications is delivered. A minor update to the application user interface can result in script failures resulting in delays and an increase in the test automation maintenance costs.
Analysts and QA experts believe that better efficiency and optimization can be achieved by coupling QA automation with modern techniques, technologies, and practices such as AI/ML, model-based testing, scriptless automation, etc.
