Hey y’all! This week I talk about colorism & how privilege is informed by proximity to whiteness. Of course I’m still me, so the anecdote I use to introduce this conversation is the treatment of RHOP’s Candiace Dillard-Bassett. You don’t have to be a housewives fan to be privy to this conversation, though, as I just used the gaslighting of Candiace as an example of blatant colorism. As a lightskin/mixed black person, I feel a certain responsibility to stand up for other black folks (especially black women) whose voices are often drowned out by the noise. With this being said: I’d like to acknowledge that I am aware I'm not an ideal leader for a conversation like this and welcome any of you to reach out to me if there’s something you feel I missed or misrepresented. The Grammys were last night and there was a lot going on chiiiile. There were some great moments like Lizzo winning ROTY and Beyoncé becoming the most Grammy awarded person in history with 32 prizes, but I do wish that Bey had taken home AOTY for RENAISSANCE. That might come up a couple times throughout the episode [or a bunch, LOL.] I talk all about Harry, my girl Adele, and a very drunk - but supportive - Taylor Swift. Drunk Taylor is my fav. I also talk about non-binary Broadway performer Justin David Sullivan whose badass decision to abstain from Tony award consideration due to the gendered nomination categories has been a topic of debate online recently. Whew. This week I talk about this boy I liked for yearsss and while it is an entertaining story, the message ain't playing: you have to see the value in yourself, because other people won't always do it for you. I had to learn that lesson - and that this boy didn't really care about me - over and over again until it stuck. So take my word for it... and without further ado...

This week I discuss a church I attended for the better part of my childhood. As a 15-year-old child, I experienced homophobic scrutiny from adults who worked there. This episode is largely about my experience there. Discussions of my experiences with the church start around 6:25 cuz you know I had to talk about Miley and SZA breaking records FIRST honey. Hey! This week I’m talking about men… the good, the bad, and the ugly. I talk about everything from being bullied by boys in my childhood to my s3xual awakening and celebrities who I think are hot. It’s a balanced episode— a dash of trauma and a dash of lust. LOL

My heart goes out to the family members of the victims in the Colorado Springs shooting at Club Q. Thoughts and prayers don't do much — not as much as legislative action would — but it's the best I can offer. My hope is that one day it won't be like this.
