This episode gets REAL about what it actually takes to build a business.
If you've ever wondered why entrepreneurship feels like you're constantly getting punched in the face… this conversation explains it better than any business book ever will.
Jerry breaks down:
The hidden cost of "just getting started"
Why regulations crush small business owners long before they get a shovel in the ground
The real failure rate of e-commerce and why most people never make a dollar
Why selling is easy — but selling profitably is the hard part
Why entrepreneurs need peer-to-peer support more than ever
What makes new founders soft (and how to fix it)
The mindset changes you must make if you want to win in business
Why your blind spots will destroy your business faster than your competitors will
How mentorship and constructive pressure accelerate success
And why "overnight success" is always 10–20 years in the making
This is one of the most unfiltered episodes we've ever recorded — packed with truth, experience, and a decade's worth of "don't make the same mistakes I did."
In this episode, we discuss the challenges and realities of entrepreneurship, emphasizing the importance of momentum, hard work, and the often glamorized perception of being a business owner. We share personal experiences and insights on balancing work and family life, the necessity of perseverance, and the mindset required to succeed in the entrepreneurial journey.
A new era has begun. Previously, this podcast was called The Jerry Brazie podcast, but Jerry has taken on a new family-owned business and has began to rebuild from the ground floor.
This is Episode #274 of the new rebranded podcast called The Kronos Group Podcast — where we don't sugarcoat entrepreneurship.
Founders Matt Floyd, Jerry Brazie, and Steve Floyd break down what it really takes to build a business, why most people misunderstand success, and how health and mindset are your most underrated business assets.
From hitting rock bottom to building and selling companies worth hundreds of millions, this episode covers:
- Why modern entrepreneurs are getting bad advice online
- The difference between entrepreneurs and operators
- Health, discipline, and mental sharpness as business superpowers
- What Jerry would've done differently when starting out
- The #1 mistake business owners make when they find early success
Real stories from 30+ years of wins and failures, and why joining a peer-to-peer group like The Kronos Group can help you skip decades of mistakes.
If you're a business owner, operator, or builder looking for real conversations and practical advice, this is for you.
At 38 years old, I was diagnosed with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy—a condition I didn't even know existed until it nearly killed me. On top of that, I developed AFib and AFlutter, which means my heart would spike to 140–240 beats per minute and just stay there for hours—or even days. I was hospitalized over 60 times, cardioverted multiple times (that's the "clear!" shock you see in movies), and lived in constant fear of the next episode. I had to lay down just walking up a flight of stairs. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't move. I was falling apart.
Fast forward to today: I've lost 100 pounds, built 30 pounds of muscle, and for three years, I kept those heart issues at bay—not with more meds, not with surgeries, but with discipline, a carnivore diet, and relentless exercise.
But I want to be clear—I didn't get here easy. I've had:
A broken back since I was 19.
A 25-year opioid addiction I had to crawl out of.
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy so bad that top cardiologists told me I'd likely end up in a chair.
AFib that has landed me in the ER eight times in three weeks—just last month.
I've had two ablation surgeries, the latest just days before I recorded this. And yet, I'm walking 4 miles a day, lifting weights, sitting in the sauna, eating clean, and doing what they say people like me simply can't do.
Doctors told me I was an anomaly—"the sickest healthy person" they've ever seen. They also said that if more patients did what I've done, they'd have fewer patients. That's the real takeaway here.
This video isn't a brag. It's not about showing off. It's a blueprint—a warning shot to your excuses and a lifeline to your willpower. If I can do this with a broken body, a sick heart, and years of suffering, you can too.
Whether you're battling AFib, cardiomyopathy, obesity, addiction, or just the defeat that comes with living in a body that's not working like it should—this is for you. I'm sharing my story because I want you to know there's a path forward.
And if you need help? DM me. I give away my walk time every day. Four miles, an hour of my time, no charge. Just a conversation to help get you started.

The Story Behind Santa, Stockings, and Christmas Magic
Step back in time and uncover the story of how a snowy evening in 1822 and a single whimsical poem shaped Christmas as we know it today. From stockings by the fire to Santa's sleigh, Clement Clarke Moore's 'Twas the Night Before Christmas brought magic and imagination to a modest holiday, transforming it into the festive, family-centered celebration we love. I also share what Christmas meant to me as a poor kid growing up and how its magic continues to inspire my family traditions in Tennessee today.
