Formerly a fishing and rod & reel factory, it was revamped in 2003 to a pub serving creative grub, lots of craft beer, & live entertainment. The building is huge with plenty of space to social distance, while still keeping Scotts awesome theme of setting up different rooms and tv's with all of your favorites sports teams.

They serve many, many beers on tap and each time the handle needs changing, they add it to their collection on the ceiling that add some extra charm.Did you know that Shakespeare's makes their own beer and those FAMOUS Nachos!

This year looks a little different and VanBuren Coffee Company is roasting their beans and Samuel and his family are selling coffee beans called Samuel's Blanket Blend to purchase blankets for the homeless instead of collecting the blankets this year.

Welcome back to another episode of Foodie Friday! This week Nathan and Rachel sit down with Alec the manager of Maui Poke Kalamazoo. While we were bummed that we couldn't sit down with the owner Janey, Alec did a fantastic job explaining what Maui Poke is all about!

If you aren't familiar with Poke, it is basically deconstructed sushi, in a bowl.. and it's delicious. If you aren't a fan of raw fish, Maui Poke offers plenty of options including mixed greens, zucchini noodles, brown and sushi rice as a base, and non fish toppings. Welcome back to another episode of Foodie Friday! This week kicks off October Halloween season and Something's Brewing... This episode Nathan and Rachel sit down with Heather the owner of Something's Brewing Coffee Cafe ( see what we did there? ;) )

All Jokes aside, Something's Brewing coffee shop is THE oldest coffee shop in Kalamazoo. It may have changed owners, however, the charm remains.Heather and her Mother run the day to day operations. The coffee and espresso is great. Nathan and Rachel love their espresso and it kicks in just a few minutes into the podcast.

Heather has some amazing coffee drinks on her menu, along with House Made Scones, Muffins, Pumpkin Whoopie Pies and so much more. It changes daily and weekly. We loved the cozy little coffee shop and it's perfect walking distance to the Kalamazoo Mall.

Welcome back to another episode of Foodie Friday! This week Nathan and Rachel sit down with Maria Brennan, the owner of The Victorian Bakery downtown Kalamazoo.

The bakery was started in the basement of a Victorian House (hence the name now), built in 1859 by a fellow Irishman. If you didn't know already, Maria is from Ireland and we love her accent.

Moving from her home bakery, she went from with Can-do kitchen, to finally having her own space downtown Kalamazoo. Maria and her crew are insanely talented and bake everything from quiche, macaron, scones, cupcakes, birthday cakes, to some other amazing baked goods like Babka, Za'atar bread. We were lucky enough to sample some of her New Apple and Pumpkin Babka for fall!

Maria has a big heart, and through COVID, found a way to give back to the community and a special bakery thousands of miles away. She and her husband have the sweetest story of how they met on her website..Tune in to hear more about The Victorian Bakery, and find out more with the links below.

Rollup Ice Cream is a new concept brought to Kalamazoo just recently in March of 2020. They offer signature recipes and flavors, and the freshest ice cream in town. They also offer non-dairy and vegetarian options as well.

Not only is the ice cream delicious, you can enjoy watching your custom roll up created right in front of you. Roll Up offers over 20 different flavor options, or you can create your own. If you are just looking for something light, they also offer sandwich wraps and bubble tea.. Keep an eye out for their seasonal flavors as we head into fall, and tune in to see what's been happening and future plans! Rollup Ice Cream & Tea has a location off of Stadium Drive and a newly opened location in Portage.

Kalamazoo Restaurant Week

Welcome back to another episode of Foodie Friday - a few days early! This week Nathan and Rachel sat down with Clarence Lloyd who helps put together Downtown Kalamazoo Restaurant week, along with other events in the downtown area.

Restaurant Week will be the same as always, just pushed a few weeks out due to COVID. All participating restaurants and menus can be found on the Kalamazoo Restaurant Week website - and a first sneak peek can be found on The Kalamazoo Foodie social media accounts! This year's Cocktail Competition will feature Red Bull and each restaurant will make their version of a Moscow Mule. Don't forget to vote for your favorite cocktail, there will be a giveaway of $50 worth of downtown dollars EACH DAY during restaurant week, and a few new menu prices for families or double date night! Restaurant week starts September 11th through September 20th. When you dine downtown at a participating restaurant, parking will be free for up to 90 minutes.
