The Greek Archives consists of 5,500 boxes of Greek artifacts and documents going back for the past hundred years or so. There’s newspapers, projectors, costumes, art objects, photographs, a newspaper press, and who knows what else. The collection is currently being sorted and listed.

Part of La Trobe University now includes the old Mont Park Asylum buildings, an old psychiatric hospital opened a hundred years ago. In there are the Greek Archives, 5,500 boxes of Greek historical artifacts and documents stretching back a century, covering a large part of Greek history and migration.

I was shown around the collection by La Trobe University librarian Eva Fisch, and Michális S. Michael of the Centre for Dialogue. You’ll be able to hear that in the next couple of weeks, for now part that didn’t make the cut. Part of the problem with such an old group of buildings is they’re sometimes left, for years. And in that time, it’s easy for uninvited guests to make themselves at home.
