In this episode, Penny and I discuss the gaps in the current education system that opened new opportunities with her tutoring business. We discuss the changes happening in education and schools as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
We discuss the current and future demand for expert educators to step in and offer services beyond the school hours. As schools have not been able to provide everything children need to move forward with more confidence and success, Penny has found a way to merge life coaching and tutoring to make an impact in kids and their families' life over the past fourteen years.
She shares the amazing opportunity educators have now more than ever to build their own highly successful tutoring & academic coaching business.

Penny Kostaras has been a trusted academic coach and educator for 14 years and is an expert at taking students from struggling to confident and successful. As the founder of Wise Student, she has created programs that offer effective strategies to help students improve time management, organization, and study skills. Her unique methods merge executive functioning with interpersonal skills to motivate and empower students to achieve their academic and personal best.
Penny is a Certified Life Coach and holds a B.A. from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, graduating Summa Cum Laude in Psychology & Hispanic Studies, and earning membership to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She loves languages and speaks Spanish, Italian, and Greek. In her spare time, she enjoys going for bike rides and baking. Penny lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and two young children.
Penny has developed a unique program for educators who are ready to shift into entrepreneurship. Her "Expert in Demand" Wise Student Tutor/Academic Coach 12-month program, she partners with educators to help them build their own $100,000+ a year business working part-time to reclaim their personal freedom and replace or supplement their income.
