Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), chair of the Jan. 6 Committee, said Monday evening there would be no criminal referrals of former President Donald Trump or anyone else to the Department of Justice (DOJ)—and Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wy.) promptly disagreed in public.

Thompson said: “That’s not our job. Our job is to look at Jan. 6. What caused it and make recommendations after that … We don’t have the authority.”

Cheney, one of two anti-Trump Republicans hand-picked by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to serve on the committee, fired back: “The Jan. 6 Select Committee has not issued a conclusion regarding potential criminal referrals. We will announce a decision on that at an appropriate time.”

Despite the breathless promotion, the first of several Jan. 6 Committee hearing broadcasts was a rating dud.

During the evening’s most popular time slots, ABC, NBC, and CBC took major hits, as very few people tuned in for the night’s propaganda theater.

According to Cable News Watch, only 4.5 million people watched the hearing on ABC, while NBC and CBC only got roughly 3 million viewers.

The Hill’s Joe Concha said that, on an average night, the networks normally get about 20 million viewers combined; Thursday night’s fiasco reeled in only 11 million.

Meanwhile, a recent Scott Rasmussen National Survey found that only 16 percent of Americans are following the hearing “very closely.”

On June 8, 26-year-old Nicholas John Roske of California was charged with attempted murder for threatening to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh over the Supreme Court’s leaked opinion that would overturn the right to kill unborn babies.

On the same day, House Democrats stalled a bill that would have provided additional security for Supreme Court justices.

In another mass shooting, four people—two doctors, a receptionist, and a patient—were killed in Tulsa after a gunman opened fire inside a medical building Wednesday, authorities said.

According to Townhall, a recent poll conducted by The Trafalgar Group surveyed 1,091 general election voters and found that 57.5 percent of voters believe schools are somewhat or much more dangerous without teachers who carry a legal firearm and are properly trained to use it. This leaves just over a mere 30 percent who oppose it. While 67.5 percent of these voters are Republicans, almost half at 48.2 percent are Democrats in favor of arming teachers.

President Joe Biden on Monday briefly discussed new gun control options, including a potential ban on assault weapons. He said the Second Amendment of the Constitution, which protects the right to keep and bear arms, “was never absolute.”

“You couldn’t buy a cannon when the Second Amendment was passed,” Biden said. “You couldn’t go out and purchase a lot of weaponry.”

Jonathan Turley rebutted his claim.

A gunman opened fire Tuesday at a Texas elementary school, killing at least 19 children. It’s the latest in a series of mass killings at churches, schools, and stores.

The suspect is being identified as 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, of Uvalde, Texas, where the mass shooting began at about noon.

The shooting at Robb Elementary School was the deadliest at a U.S. grade-school since a gunman killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, in December 2012.

It does not appear that the dead alleged shooter, Salvador Ramos, was a white supremacist. Watch the media, post-Buffalo supermarket shooting, deftly switch from “angry white men” to “easy access of guns.”
