The chess pieces are set for the siege of Eregion, the Stranger’s last trial from The Secret Fire, a civil war in Numenor, and the completion of Brimby’s rings of power. Is Annatar manipulating reality, or just Brimby’s mind? And what’s a Durin to do as he watches his father dig deeper into the allure of his ring?
This week's Second Breakfast menu features an extra heaping of Annatar fueling conspiracy among the elven smiths, with sides of Greed in Numenor and Khazad-Dum. We respond to your questions and comments and evaluate the trending theory of a budding "Mirdan-nnatar" relationship.
"I think it's been here. I think it's been here among us all along.”

The pace is picking up as Durin, blinded by greed, has taken the dwarven rings of power without question. How do these rings compare with the elven rings and Annatar’s plans for the rings for men?
Speaking of future ring-wraiths, Kemen and Earien strengthen their case for “most likely to be voted by the audience to endure an eternity of suffering and enslavement to Sauron”. Elendil, meanwhile, shows his quality, but to the expense of a friend’s life, and Celebrimbor is starting to put the pieces together all too late.
“Your path is made of seawater. Take care to keep your feet beneath you. It’s a long way to the bottom.”

“We’ve had one, yes. But what about Second Breakfast?”
The Last Alliance is here to bring you some mid-week Rings of Power reflections: Is Tom Bombadil afraid? Are there fans that actually enjoy watching Arondir? What sacrifices will Elrond and Galadriel have to make?

Old Tom Bombabil! Episode 4 introduced a new character, more information about the stranger, a developing feud between Galadriel and Elrond, and - most importantly for Kameron - more halflings! We talk about a unique scene that book readers will remember (just don’t get caught up in the chains). Vote in the poll and let us know who you think The Stranger is.

Sauron’s back! And his darkness is spreading across the realms of elves, dwarves, and men. The Last Alliance offers instant reaction to the first three episodes of Season 2, even after a bizarrely timed marathon release night planned by Amazon.
“It is called humility and it is difficult for most, but it is the truest form of sight.” - Cirdan
With less than a week before Season 2 premiers, and a host of promo videos to analyze, we present what we know, what we’re looking forward to, and what concerns we have when it comes to the storyline. Vote in our poll on Instagram and Spotify for which of our bold predictions you like the most and leave us a comment telling us where we’re wrong!
“Every soul in Middle-Earth is in peril. WIll you abandon them to their doom?”
Join us as we discuss the first official trailer and behind the scense video for Season 2 of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”.
In the season finale, we discuss the coming out party for Sauron and Gandalf ( it IS Gandalf, right?). The three elven rings are forged, Numenor’s at a tipping point, Nori and the Stranger take off for Rhun, and Sauron’s finally found his dream home.
“When in doubt, always follow your nose.”
We’ll be honest, this episode was not our favorite. We criticize some of the directors’ choices to this point, and discuss whether we’ve finally witnessed Halbrand’s first outright lie. Also, did you know that Mt. Doom is in MORDOR?!
“It doesn’t matter - we’re all going to die anyway.” - Sadoc
