Listen Later

Welcome to our latest weekly film podcast; The Last Edit #20 - The Killing Fields (1984). Roland Joffé directs a truly remarkable film about the horrifying Cambodian war. Sydney Schanberg (Sam Waterston) is a New York Times journalist covering the conflict with Cambodian reporter Dith Pran (Haing S. Ngor). The U.S. Army pulls out of Cambodia amid secret bombing and troops entering the country. The Khmer Rouge rebels take over while Schanberg helps get Pran's family to safety, he and Pran choose to stay, until the Khmer Rouge demand all Cambodians be handed over to them. Including Pran, who goes through hell to escape his captors. One of the most affecting, honest, frightening and somewhat hopeful film's ever made. Let's talk film folks...
