Gold is the state mineral of Alaska. Sea otters were considered soft gold due to their desired fur pelts. And your podcast hosts and have unofficially named beer as the liquid gold of the Last Frontier State. Beer has always been a large part of this podcast with our episodic beer reviews from local Alaskan breweries and so we decided to dedicate this entire episode to just beer...more specifically, the history of beer in the state of Alaska. Join us as we walk with you through time from the original beers of the Alaskan gold rush to the current state of beers in Alaska. How does one win a guest spot on our podcast? What specialty beers is Alaska known for? And why were brewers the real winners of the gold rush movement? It's the episode you'll crack one open for!

Living in a place like Alaska is great in that many of our friends and family will come visit. Andrew's father Steve, arguably our most loyal listener, was in town and so we invited him on the pod to share his experiences of visiting Alaska over the years. Andrew was first introduced to Alaska many years ago when his father took him on a fishing trip to Kodiak Island and Steve has made several fishing trips to Alaska since. Today's episode will focus on a visitor's perspective of the Last Frontier state and anglers will love this episode as we delve into the ins and outs of fishing in Alaska based on Steve's experiences. How do you catch a salmon when they have no interest in bait? Do bears make good fishing companions? And can a sea otter truly produce a bald eagle offspring?! It's the episode you'll definitely want to snag up!

We met several people this past summer who were podcast listeners and said our Alaska travel episode was instrumental in helping them plan their trip. It was such a great feeling to get that feedback and so we decided to put together a sequel to that episode. As Seward is our home base and a popular tourist destination with its access to Kenai Fjords National Park, we decided to do a Seward spotlight episode to highlight all the incredible things one can do if you choose to visit our small mountain town on the ocean. Planning a trip to Alaska? Seward should definitely be on your destination list and this episode will give you plenty of options to consider as your plan your Alaskan adventure. What makes Seward so special to us? What qualifies as visiting a National Park? And why did our guest of the episode almost show up naked? It's the episode that'll have you booking your next vacation spot!

It's wedding day in Alaska! One of your hosts is getting married the day this episode drops so that is the theme of today's episode. Before he moved to the Last Frontier state, friend of the pod Brian Wright came to Alaska for his destination wedding and honeymoon. We pick his brain on what that experience was like and give our feedback on where we would go on an Alaskan honeymoon. Why does Alaska work as a honeymoon spot? How does an aphrodisiac infused beer rate? And how would you want to die if you were a salmon? It's the episode you'll say "I Do" to!
