Some quick thoughts on a year after the end of the first month where people started taking COVID-19 seriously. And what it may have meant at the start that may be worth considering near the end.
Perhaps not everyone felt this way - perhaps it was simply the thoughts of someone recently out of work, able to afford to think a little differently about the world for a few weeks. Because of course it wouldn't be longer than that...
Almost called this one "Food" but maybe Groceries is a better title, for thoughts concerning what's changed about Costco and Trader Joe's in the almost-post-pandemic era. Or at least, what's changed about going there.
A short-form sub-podcast, planned to have a generational view of the journey back to normalcy in a post-Covid world. Assuming that's where we are....

The 8th episode of The Latest Generation is called "Managing the G.I. Generation" but is built around previous notes on Hired!

Eventually you have to make it through to the end.
This is, as it says, the last Gen X Job Seeker episode, because....the search is over.
Going to blame having a job again for not having more to say this month, but working on a more consistent release schedule soon.

Good luck to everyone out there still seeking.
Thoughts on being out of work for a year - 365 days - a milestone that I reached this last week.

March 30, 2020 - about two weeks into the initial pandemic lockdown:

President Joseph Biden is the first President from the Silent Generation, and presumably the last. Is that going to be a problem, here in the Fourth Turning? Perhaps not, considering how little we understand about how leaders change in the later Elder period of life. His governing style might not be the standard for how the Artist archetype is expected to manifest.
Here's the excerpt again:
“As the forces of history amass under Boom leadership, the Silent can remind Boomers of kindness, 13ers of conscience, Millenials of caution. The danger will lie in any attempt by aging Silent leaders to get too much in the way of the thickening forces of history - for example, if an eightyish President (or Supreme Court) insists on scrupulous process at a moment when younger generations begin to coalesce around the need for decisive action. The last time this happened, during the Presidency of old Compromiser James Buchanan, the foot dragging of elder Adaptives helped foment the most destructive crisis in American History. The same could occur if antiquarian Silent leadership helps usher in the Crisis of 2020.”

Mitch McConnell was born 2/20/1942, is a more definite silent, if only by a few months.
Nanci Pelosi was born March 26 1940 a solid Silent
Chuck Schumer was born November 23 1950 and is a very solid Boomer…but even he is 70

A few minutes to note the end of the Countdown series, about the 2020 election.
There had been some plan to update/follow-up on it, but we are well past that point, today.
A look back at 2020, what The Crisis of 2020 might have been, and what Crisis really means, here.
Unforced Errors was episode 49, and was posted in April 2020
The Crisis of 2020 was a prediction in the original book, Generations. It was used as a focus of episode 34 ("The Crisis of 2020") in January 2019, and followed up in episode 44 ("When 2020 Came Early") in October 2019.
Unfortunately, this is not the long-awaited final episode of my job search, but simply another one since it has been four months since the last one. Some thoughts on the year gone by, and what I've actually done.
Concerning the election of Joe Biden, born 1942, and the resulting failure of a specific prediction from the 1991 book Generations: That the Silent generation would never hold the office of President of the United States.
Joe Biden’s birthday is November 20 - he turned 78 quite recently.

Ronald Reagan was born February 6, 1911, was inaugurated January 20 1981 (not quite 70 years old) and departed office January 20 1989, two weeks before his 78th birthday.
