Law Simplified sat with the first Asian, first Muslim, and the Seventh female President of The Law Society of England and Wales, Lubna Shuja.
On 12 October 2022, Lubna made history by being appointed as The President, and demonstrated to the world that the legal profession is diversifying in the UK.
Lubna qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and went onto work in a High Street Law Firm for 14 years, before setting up her own firm, Legal Swan Solicitors in Birmingham, in 2007. She specialises in professional discipline and regulation. Lubna has been a part of the Law Society since 2013, representing the interests of solicitors.
During our interview, she spoke about her journey to becoming a solicitor and the President, what her role involves, and told us about some of her key aims whilst in the office. This is not one to be missed.
