  • 701: Back to Spanish- How to Reset Your Bilingual Routine After Summer

    Subscribe on  Apple Podcasts   Spotify

Season 7 of The Latina Mom Legacy is here! In this episode, I share a simple, practical reset plan to help you get your kids back on track with Spanish after summer, no guilt required.

For my family, summer was full of Spanish immersion... celebrating my mami’s 80th birthday in the Dominican Republic (she snorkeled for the first time!) and spending five weeks surrounded by Spanish in Florida. But not every family had that same exposure. Maybe your routine slipped, or English took over. If that’s you, don’t worry, you’re not alone.

    Timestamps & What You’ll Discover

    • 2:32 – Why routines unravel after summer

    • 5:00 – Mindset shift: reset, don’t start over

    • 6:44 – 3-Step Reset Plan

      • Reconnect with daily Spanish moments

      • Add fresh, fun activities to your routine

      • Make progress visible with charts or trackers

    • 12:12 – Troubleshooting resistance and overwhelm

    • 14:26 – Free bilingual tool to restart your routine

    3 Quick Bilingual Parenting Takeaways:

    1. Summer dips are normal. Disrupted schedules, vacations, and more English exposure often push Spanish aside — but that doesn’t mean you’ve failed.
    2. Reset, don’t restart. This is an opportunity to refresh your routine, add something fun, and approach Spanish time with a lighter mindset.
    3. Anchor Spanish to daily life. Simple habits like breakfast chats, bedtime stories, or sticker charts can bring Spanish back into your routine consistently.

Whether you’re a mamá navigating big changes, a parent raising bilingual niños, or a mujer balancing cultura, career, and corazón this season reminded me (and I hope reminds you) that none of us are doing it alone.

Motherhood evolves. Our kids grow. We shift with them. And through all of it, whether you're cheering in the stands, scrambling lunch together, or quietly advocating for our comunidad, you are building legacy with every little step.

So take a breath. Reflect on how far you’ve come.
