It's brother time on the Lazy & Entitled podcast! Brendan and Chris are thrilled to welcome David Corlew for a dive into the life of a working actor and teacher (and so much more). First, the dudes must discuss live music performances that they've gotten lost in, Chris reads from Anthony Bourdain, and worker of the week keeps us humble.

David Corlew is a New-York based actor, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and teacher who work spans across multiple mediums.

He recently had his network television debut with a guest spot on Law and Order, spent 2023 traveling across Japan as Gaston in Disney-on-Classic’s symphonic concert of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and is a veteran of the two-person, four-hand piano whodunit, MURDER FOR TWO, as well as a ready contributor to other actor-musician productions where he can apply his skills as a violinist. He will join the cast of CEILIDH at the M&T Bank Exchange in Baltimore this fall under the direction of Sam Pinkleton.

Previously one of half a trapeze duo, Corlew remains a sought-after coach. A graduate of the Professional Training Program at the New England Center for Circus Arts, he has been the porter for four different duo trapeze acts, studied under Chloé Farah and Aimée Hancock, performed in several original circus-theatre productions, sharpened his skillset as an aerial choreographer under Sylvia Hernandez-Distasi, and distinguished himself as coach and teacher around Chicago before relocating to New York.

Spring is actually here, and we're all taking long walks. But you have to sit down eventually, and we did in front of microphones. Chris and Brendan discuss how getting outside helps creative practice, Chris interviews poet, small press publisher, reading series runner, and Chicagoan Ben Niespodziany, and then Chris and Brendan salute a man who saw the U.S.'s carpocalypse coming back in the 70s.

Originally from Mishawaka, Indiana, Benjamin Niespodziany is a Chicago-based poet, curator, editor, folklorist, and music marketing manager. A former Peace Corps Volunteer and Olive Garden waiter, his work has appeared in Indiana Review, Fence, Bandcamp, Conduit, Complex, Bennington Review, and elsewhere. He’s been included in the Wigleaf Top 50 and has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, Best Microfiction, and Best of the Net. He hosts a bi-monthly reading series at The Whistler in Chicago and is the founder and editor of Pizama Press.
