Make Life On The Road A Little Better Each Trip... When you drive for a living and spend a lot of time living out of your truck on the road the things you bring with you make a lot of difference to your comfort and happiness out there. Some things are obvious but others you may not consider until you need them. Thinking about how you live daily when you are at home and all the things you use out of habit without even thinking about it consciously can help. Try to pay attention to what you are using and write everything down over the course of a few days. Use that along with the information I mention in this podcast and you will be off to a good start. Then as you are out there doing the job and find you need something or think of something you would just like to have write it down. Next time you get to a store or back home again then go get it and add it to your truck so that way each trip is a little more comfortable than the last. Regardless of whether you run a microbusiness or a relatively large and growing company, well developed systems can make a ton of difference in your success. Think of franchise operations or any other big nationwide company you can imagine - every single one of them without exception uses standard management control systems of of some type - regardless of what name they choose to call it. These systems are a large part of what allows such companies to not only survive long term but in many cases to thrive and to continuously grow and improve. Every once in awhile you see such a company falter and sometimes even fail - and if you do an autopsy on the remains of it you will often find an incompetent manager or management team that strayed away from the management systems that built the company to start with. In other cases it may be because they failed to continuously refine and improve their systems and tactics to be able to adapt to changing markets and other variables that will always require periodic revision and updates to even the best systems ever developed. Systems well thought out and well designed, properly developed and implemented allow any organization large or small to repeatedly and consistently kick the stuffing out of its competition. So what about you? How are your current systems?

You can choose how you want to live your life - independent and self reliant or dependent with other people controlling you. Make no mistake about it either - it is a choice but it is a choice that will be made with or without your intentional consent and active participation. Trucking offers you a realistic escape plan from the rat race and all that goes with it. If you can handle it that is. Trucking can allow you to build a life you may have only dreamed of - and a life beyond your wildest dreams at this moment too - but only of you can handle the price of admission.Trucking will test you and stress you and separate the weak from the strong - the driven from the lost and the top performers from all the rest. The rewards are many. The rewards are huge. But only those who are driven to succeed and who are smart enough and willing to do the work to get there will ever experience it. What about you? Let me share with you one of my personal stories from many years ago. In this podcast I will tell you about a day in my life that ended just fine - but almost didn't go well at all, and the lesson I learned from it all. Ever Thought About Becoming a Trucker? If not, maybe you should! It has many opportunities available to you. Its a good idea to test the waters and make sure you have what it takes and are willing to get in the arena and slug it out until you get it done, before you go out and make a big mistake by taking on a ton of debt only to find out it wasn't the right business for you to start with. Start something that is much less risk and then see if you can pull it off successfully. Learn as you go. Reinvest and parlay that into something you really want step by step. What Are You Waiting For? Now is the time to become a truck driver if you have been thinking about it for awhile. Today there are plenty of great opportunities for you in trucking right now. Many companies are paying huge sign on bonuses and offering bucket loads of other benefits because the driver shortage is making it difficult for them to move all the freight that is available - and for some its impossible to expand or even hold what they have because they don't have enough drivers! 1. Older drivers (Baby Boomers) and others are aging and retiring or leaving trucking

3. Younger prospective drivers are not as interested in trucking because of time on the road and away from home and other reasons
4. Relatively low starting pay and misunderstandings relating to pay realities
5. Industry has done a poor job of promoting its opportunities
6. Most carriers SUCK at recruiting!
7. They are worse at retention

It used to be that you needed a ton of money and a lot of resources to get most modern business ideas off the ground.
