Vanilla Busters are men and women who refuse to settle for an ordinary, mundane, risk-free life. They have made the resolute decision to abandon the security and safety of the bleachers, and to enter into the dangers and glories of the playing field. It's about giving up small dreams and bite-sized ambitions so that we can take hold of dreams and ambitions big enough to make our stay on planet earth worthwhile. It's refusing to allow someone else to do our risk-taking, and daring to live life at full throttle. It's about saying "no" to vanilla, and shouting "yes" to life.

The Law of Attraction is the belief that positive or negative thoughts bring positive or negative experiences into a person's life. This is based on the idea by aligning our thoughts with the right belief systems, we can attract into our lives good things— like improved health, wealth, and personal relationships. A key component of the philosophy is the idea that in order to effectively change one's negative thinking patterns, one must also "feel" (through creative visualization) that the desired changes have already occurred. This combination of positive thought and positive emotion is believed to allow one to attract positive experiences and opportunities by achieving resonance with that law. In Christianity, it is called faith. In Psychology, it is described as cognitive reframing techniques. Sept 11th, 2001, is the day where the world stood still.

Buried, crushed, and bleeding beneath the tons of rubble of the South Tower, Joe wondered what life could be if given just one more day. He was miraculously found alive by rescue workers with multiple fractures, a massive brain injury, and barely breathing. The light of day was something he always took for granted. Within ten minutes of being rescued, Joe was buried again under the debris of the second collapse…the North Tower.

In 1989, Huwe Burton came home to discover his mother, Keziah, had been stabbed to death in their Bronx home. The 16-year-old, who had been at school all day, was arrested for her murder and coerced into a false confession. He was given a 15-years-to-life sentence for a crime he didn’t commit, beginning a decades-long fight to clear his name. Huwe was finally exonerated in early 2019 with the help of Innocence Project staff attorney Susan Friedman. In this edition of the TIME with Fred Podcast, Huwe shares his incredible story of perseverance in the face of injustice.
