Ben went to Clarksdale, MS, the birthplace of the blues, for a job and convinced Rebekah to come so that, together, they could strengthen a community, support the development of children, and make an impact in a part of the country where it would really count. Their work as the leaders of the Griot Arts Center and Meraki Roasting Company focuses on building relationships with the residents of Clarksdale to rewrite and broaden its narrative so that its history of racial division and financial struggle gives way to hope, prosperity, and a healed community.
