  • Attorney Bio: Mo Dadkhah

Driven by a work ethic instilled by his parents, Mo Dadkhah knows how to go only one speed: fast. Many times on four wheels. An attorney by trade, Mo is owner of Dadkhah Law Group, owner of Main Street Real Estate Group, and a semi-professional racecar driver.

Though racing is his true love, Mo carries that passion for racing into everything he does; including his businesses. When he graduated law school, it was during the recession of ‘08/’09, and the job market was looking bleak. Rather than accept a low paying job, Mo started his own practice.

With no prior work experience or mentors to show him the ropes; Mo recalls the unconventional route he took to learn from real world experience.

“I would go to the Daley Center with a notepad. I would dress up in a suit and a tie, and I would sit in courtrooms. I remember I used to go up and down the courtrooms, because they are open, for the most part, to view. I would go up and down in different courtrooms and with my little notepad and I would write down what other attorneys were doing.

I would literally take pictures of orders just so I could know how to write an order.”

It’s that self motivation that’s led to doors of opportunity opening for Mo. Seeing a chance to gain courtroom experience, he offered to stand in for other attorneys and earn a couple bucks. After placing an ad in craigslist, the calls started to come in and Mo was able to turn those experiences into two fruitful businesses in real estate.

Yet, as Mo admits, it’s his love of racing that inspires him to work as relentlessly as he does. Not one to compromise quality of service, he discusses how he maintains a balance between the expensive sport he loves, and the responsibilities to his clients and employees that support it.

“I was doing a race or two maximum a year and I was growing businesses. And now I've come back to it. And it feels like a sense of accomplishment. I don't hate what I do. I love what I do. I love growing businesses. I love the people I work with, but I love auto racing more.

I look at it as a recharge for me. I go racing, I come back, I'm motivated. I've also met a lot of influential business people, influential entrepreneurs, and friends in the automotive world.

I feel like I would be a less effective business owner, because I'd have less to look forward to.”

Tune in to hear more on Mo’s story and his views on business and entrepreneurship, and how he’s built two successful businesses along the way.

  • Attorney Bio: Odell Mitchell III

Odell Mitchell III, attorney and entrepreneur, sits down on the Legal Network to share how everything he does revolves around one question: “how do we make this world a better place for the people living in it?”

His firm, Thirdinline Legal, is a law firm that focuses largely on entertainment practice. He approaches his legal practice the same way he approaches most things in life - by connecting with the people he’s working with.

“The people that we represent are folks who are doing something creative or what I like to often call creative adjacent. People who create things really invest their soul into it and so being able to connect in that space really helps.”

While Odell works with anyone doing something creative, music is what brought him to this type of law in the first place. It started in college where he was studying music business and started doing creative things for a local record label from graphic design to helping people record and write music. Today that lends itself to his unique position - a lawyer helping creatives who has extensive experience in being a creative himself.

“I know what it is to be in the studio. I know what it is to do all of that grind work. That helps give that perspective of how you are able to create something and really embrace that while also thinking of these other concerns like, what is that balance, what is the calculus you have to do, et cetera? It’s not philosophical to me, it's real. And that is something that definitely sets me apart.”

On this episode of The Legal Network, Odell shares more than his story; he also shares advice on how people in the Entertainment industry can go about finding the fight lawyer, what to look out for, what to avoid, etc. Tune in to learn more on those topics and about how Odell helps others and maintains his optimal level of empathy and kindness in his approach to law.

  • Attorney Bio: Melissa Tannehill

On this episode of The Legal Network Podcast, Real Estate Attorney Melissa Tannehill sits down and shares her passion for what she does and the story behind it.

Growing up on the Northside of Chicago, Melissa comes from a family of Chicago Police Officers. Wanting to carve out her own path, she found herself working on mortgage loans at 18. She worked full time while getting her bachelors at UIC and a law degree from John Marshall.

“It was tough, but I was young back then, so I was able to kind of keep to doing it. I could also keep my eyes open, you know, when I had to work from nine to five and then go to school from six to nine.”

Spending most of her life in Chicago and being exposed to different neighborhoods, she found a passion for real estate. It intrigued her to see how areas, like Humboldt Park, that at one point, were unsafe could transform into a desirable place to live.

“Seeing a vast array of different areas of my life where I was doing something different, but always kind of in relation to real estate is what just led me back. I couldn't really ignore it anymore. So I decided, all right, let's go ahead and  use all this knowledge that I've accumulated over the years and aim it toward the good of real estate and helping other people.”

With a law degree from John Marshall, Melissa could have gone in multiple different directions. However, for her, the relationship aspect that comes along with Real Estate law and the opportunity it presents to get to know other people’s stories reeled her in. Her unique experience in mortgage lending coupled with her own real estate investment experience gives her an edge to help her clients not only with the legal side but also with navigating the market.

Tune in to this episode of The Legal Network Podcast to hear more about Melissa’s story, her own experience, and advice she has for those in the Real Estate industry.

  • Attorney Bio: Veronica Campos
Veronica Campos, Attorney at Law, joins us on our first episode of The Legal Network. A podcast meant to bring together these advocates of justice to share their story.
Veronica’s story is one of overcoming adversity and finding her strength and inspiration in her immigrant mother who went back to school as a mom of two. From an early age, she knew she wanted to be a lawyer with the goal of helping other people.
After working her butt off to try and get into law school, law kind of took a back seat after she had her daughter and discovered an incredible eBay side hustle. Almost ready to throw in the towel on school and open up a brick and mortar store for her eBay venture, Veronica tried one more time and was accepted.
She dabbled in a couple of different types of practices before finding what she brought to our Chicago community - a lawyer for the Spanish speaking members of our neighborhoods who needed a lawyer who could understand them. Linguistically and culturally:
“I found the way to serve my community and there are different ways to serve it.”
She tells a beautiful story of helping a man gain custody of his son and how that has compelled her to become a huge advocate for fathers’ rights. Along the way, she added real estate law and bankruptcy to her repertoire. The most important thing for Veronica, regardless of which branch a case falls under, is preserving the family.
“These are families that still have to go on living after the court case is over.”
Veronica shares her beautiful and inspiring story of how she went from a daughter of immigrants growing up in Chicago to a powerhouse attorney helping families navigate some of their most difficult times on our inaugural episode of The Legal Network.
