The Legend of Things episodes

  • Episode 16: Zelda's Breath of the Wild, Resident Evil 7, Mount & Blade 2, GoT, and Warcraft!
The gang is still Danny-less, due to Shaun's lack of Necromancy skill. This week they finish up E3 with a nice Zelda: Breath of the Wild surprise, and the Rockstar no-show, then delve into a guest request that led to Jon watching the Warcraft movie, and penultimate Game of Thrones episode of this season! SADNESS! And finally, Shaun and Jon discuss the merits of terrifying VR, ala Resident Evil 7, the wonders of ARGs, the upcoming Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlords, Mafia 3, and Phoenix Point. Whew! That's a lotta stuff. Enjoy!

  • Episode 14: Civ 6, Oxenfree, Legion on FX, and Cuddling With Jon is Weird!
Episode 14 is here for your consumption and ultimate approval! We discuss a fair share of items in the news, including the Payday 2 acquisition by Starbreeze, the release of potentially wack-a-doo mod support for Fallout 4, the inevitable delay of the release of No Man's Sky and the ensuing death threats, and the gulf of time and space since any of us have played Half Life 2, Episode 2. Episode 3 coming soon! Also, Legion is coming to FX, helmed by the showrunner of the recent, excellent reboot of Fargo.
In our games segment, we discuss the mechanically bouyant but aesthetically questionable Civilization VI, as well as the indie gem Oxenfree, which is now available on console as well as steam. Jon also talks about his current jam, the spooky-as-ghost-shit game "The Cat Lady".

In our triumphant return to the Waaaaaangs, Shaun discusses "Absolver", Danny is eager to get into both "Home" and the upcoming "Alone With You" both from Benjamin Rivers, and Jon exposes us to potentially the worst voice-over in game trailer history, while still manging to remain excited about Mighty No. 9.  Lastly, imagine cuddling a giant robot spider.

  • Episode 13: More Uncharted, The Stanley Parable & The Stepdad of Dragons!
Welcome to the big one-three! Episode 13 starts with two of us, as Jon gets stuck in traffic on the way to recording. But we make headway into the new Uncharted 4 - which Shaun has finally jumped into.

Danny goes gaga for The Stanley Parable, which took him on a journey into the realistic depths of his own insignifigance. He strongly recommends you play it as well as The Beginner's Guide, by the same development team.
We also delve a bit more into Jon and Shaun's experiences in Total War: Warhammer. And finally, as it's GoT season, we can't skip an episode of discussing the newest Game of Thrones, featuring Fireballs McGillicutty, star of Danny's GoT fan-fic, "Fucked Beyond the Flames". Coming soon.

  • Episode 12: Doom, Stellaris, Total Warhams, and Kuato has a Hairpiece
Episode 12 delves into some soul-searching and deeply moving discussion as to whether or not Kuato's receeding hairline in Total Recall is the result of friction, or normal mutant-pattern baldness. Semi-related (in that it takes place on Mars, we talk about DOOM, the apparent problems with PC audio, and some other differences of opinion. Also, DOOT!

We also bounce around some other Bethesda favorites, in particular the Dishonored franchise, and the problems with pointless player-character morality systems.  Jon and Shaun are still plowing away at Stellaris, building empires, launching wars, enslaving vassels. You know, the usual.

And, of course, if you're reading this it means Total War: Warhammer War Total War War has already been released, and we'll be giving that game the real business, Oxford rules, in our next episode. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 10: Game of Thrones, Overwatch, Hyperlight Drifter & Battlefield 1
In this episode, we dish up on Game of Thrones lore and wild speculation in regard to who farted when Zombie Mountain walked in (seriously, it happened). We also touch on the magnificent beauty of Battlefield 1 trailer, the drudgery of Call of Duty: Infinite War, and the flirtatious mixed signals that we're getting from Overwatch. And all the normal hip-hoppery and tom-foolery that we get into weekly. Subscribe! Leave a review! The future of 'Merica depends on it!

  • Episode 9: Dark Souls, Final Fantasy XV, and the Indomitable Harry Carey
In a truly inspirational episode 9, former Cubs announcer Harry Carey sits in for Danny, who mysteriously exploded. But the boys get the job done, detailing the hilarity that is Dark Souls 3 takedowns, and the relative ease with which a one-armed four-year-old could beat this game (compared to DS2).
And have you seen Final Fantasy XV? So pretty. Play the demo.
Also discussed are the games Tyranny and Pillars of Eternity, the spiritual successor to the old Baldur's Gate franchise, And holy shit, when is Numenera coming out on PC? We kickstarted that game like 15 years ago, when it was done by sending a check through the mail.
Code 8 is an awesome short movie, which we would have supported through Indiegogo had we known about it a month ago.
And this week's In The Wangs is particualrly wangy, as Jon and Shaun tackle the games Crowfall, and Warhammer: Total War (which brings back fond memories of PS1 Shadow of the Horned Rat - 14-year-old Shaun rejoices!)

  • Episode 8: Bullshit Extravaganza Vol 1!
Episode 8 is a rando-short-isode, since Danny is recovering from a terrific case of bronchitis. But fear not! In this somber and reverant episode we tackle the weighty topics of sending letters to the parents of children you eat, as well as what happens when a room full of service members in a war zone are confronted with gratutitous male crotch-to-face action.
Also, if Red Ain't Dead has their way, we'll all be in ginger camps in 100 years, having our hair forcibly dyed. Additional topics include:
    Oscar Isaac's dance moves
What is The Signal? (spoiler, it's "fuck you")
    The dangers of priapism
    William Murderface Murderface
The Lego set of my 8-year-old dreams
    The magic of Sad Affleck

  • Episode 7: WW1, UFC2, Star Wars 3.5, Playstation 4.5, & 10 Minutes to Live
In episode 7, Shaun and Jon extoll the virtues of UFC 2, with its training regimen and charachter creator, as well as its hilarious ragdoll glitches. But does it have anything on Tecmo World Wrestling? Time will tell. Helen Mirren is a monster fighter, though.
We also discuss the not-yet-remastered Valkyria Chronicles in depth, in mechanics and metastory. Thusly did we rabbit-hole through several wartime games, such as This War of Mine, and Valiant Hearts, which Danny stumbled into after getting into Dan Carlin's Hardcore History on WW1. Highly recommended if you love some history podcast action. You'd also be a damn fool not to listen to RadioLab from WNYC - we talk about the Black Box episode (not the Brown Box episode).
Additionally, we dip into a couple short indie titles from game james, including TIMEframe and Barb. Check them out, they're short and sweet. We also get into South Park: Stick of Truth, and Homestar Runner.
If you like South African techno rap, you'll probably like Die Antwoord, but this may or may not have any bearing on whether or not you like Chappie. But darn it if you won't like Star Wars: Rogue One. Shout out to listener Zack for insisting we talk about the trailer.
    Cool beans beans, cool beans!
