  • Why Did I Get Married?

    This week’s topic is all about marriage. What’s it really all about and why do we do it. For this episode, I was able to get the participation of a few close friends and family members who agreed to complete a questioner about their personal experience with marriage. My intentions with this episode are to shed some light on the intricacies of a marriage not only for myself but for others who may be curious as well. What makes marriages work or why they fail. Even though I will only be using a very small sample size it is my hope that the experiences that I share just might bring some clarity to the subject of marriage for those of us who continue to be perplexed by the whole idea of it.

  • Interdependent Motherhood

    According to Supercentral.com, an interdependency relationship will exist between two individuals if: they have a close personal relationship; they live together; one or each of them provides the other with financial support; and one or each of them provides the other with domestic support and personal care. And as a wife and stay at home mom I have had to learn to adapt to this way of life and it has truly been a journey, so let’s get into it.

  • Be Your Own Advocate

    This episode is all about being proactive about your own health care. If you don't feel that your healthcare professional doesn't have your best interest at heart sometimes we have to be proactive about our own health by asking the questions, requesting your medical records, or even finding a new Health care provider. At the end of the day, it's important for us to take matters into our own hands as it relates to our health care as well as self-care.

  • Love and Marriage

    Being in a relationship takes hard work. Being in a marriage takes that and then some. Three things that I have learned over the years and would like to stress to you are;

    If you know you have been through a traumatic experience and you have not taken the proper steps to ensure that you have fully healed from that experience, don’t bring anybody into your mess. That person doesn’t deserve having to deal with your emotional baggage and you owe it to yourself to heal yourself first to the point where you are able to find your own happiness without even needing to be in a relationship.

    Just because you may have had your heart broken or maybe even decimated doesn’t mean that the person you finally decide to be with doesn’t deserve to have all of you, it’s not fair to you or them. So, if you’re not in the position to give or receive love in its entirety, fall back, just be friends until you are able to give it your all.

    And lastly, communicate, even if you have to write daily letters, daily emails, daily text or see a therapist, but you have to communicate because without healthy communication you’ll be sitting around making assumptions about things that aren’t even true or that don’t even make sense. So, do whatever ever you have to do to communicate and if you find that you just can’t get it right then that’s a whole other discussion that you’re going to have to get through because at the end of the day you’ll be doing yourself a great disservice if you can’t speak or live in your own truth.

  • Remember to take care of you

    Motherhood is a very special gift not everybody gets to be a mother. A mother is someone that’s always going to be there for you through the good and bad. She’s the first person that is going to love you unconditionally. When you become a mother, you learn to put the needs of your children first. As mothers, we sometimes forget to eat or we barely get enough sleep. And those days when we think we have nothing left to give; we somehow find the strength to be there for our children when they need us the most. Motherhood may come with a lot of ups and downs but there’s nothing like the unconditional love that is shared between a mother and child. To all my mothers, I say continue to love your babies like there’s no tomorrow but remember to take care of you so that you can continue to enjoy all the unconditional love your children have to give.
