“Show me the comfort of a tunnel with no end.” The opening lines of ‘The Lich King’ ring out, reining in Buddhist notions of reincarnation together with occult fantasy to paint a raw picture of human mortality. In spite of its solemn character, the song remains chillingly seductive amongst avant-garde vocal arrangements, synth lines ranging from razor-sharp highs to hulking lows and a disarming resolution of acoustic guitars in harmony. The track releases on October 17th—the eve of the full moon and two weeks before Halloween, as part of Guthrie Galileo’s upcoming deluxe album The Angels Will Never Wear White Again (Hunter’s Moon Edition).
