Authentic Business Adventures Podcast

The Life of a Serial Entrepreneur

Listen Later

Dan Guerra - SDMCentral

Most entrepreneurs share a few common traits.  They strive for success, growth and always pursue what is next.  They also have a million ideas for other businesses and need to quell that urge to start the next big thing.
That last part is a blessing and a curse.  It makes it easy, well, easier to pivot.  It also can be a distraction.
Listen as Dan Guerra shares his entrepreneurial journey from the business of computer repair to website creation to software in the health care field, he has a diverse background of business experience.
Dan shares the good, bad and less than great about his business journey.

Enjoy!

Today we are welcoming/preparing to learn
from Dan Guerra, the CEO of SDM Central.

[00:00:26]
So, Dan, how are things going today?

[00:00:30]
Hey, every day is a great day.

[00:00:33]
Every day is a great day.

[00:00:35]
That's the mindset I hear of a lot

[00:00:37]
of entrepreneurs are just like, it's
awesome, everything's great.

[00:00:43]
You always get that when you talk
to somebody who's a real estate agent.

[00:00:47]
You ask them, how's the market?
Best market ever.

[00:00:49]
You couldn't ask for a better market.

[00:00:51]
I'm like, did we wake
up in the same space?

[00:00:54]
No.

[00:00:56]
2008.
Everything's on fire.

[00:00:58]
It's great.

[00:00:59]
Like networking events and happy hours.

[00:01:02]
How's real estate?

[00:01:04]
Best market ever.

[00:01:05]
Good guy, man, flying off the shelf.

[00:01:07]
Can't keep up with the underwriting.

[00:01:10]
I just heard about a financial crisis, man

[00:01:14]
Isn't the world on fire?

[00:01:15]
Yeah.

[00:01:17]
So to your point yes.

[00:01:18]
I think entrepreneurs are
default optimistic people.

[00:01:23]
If you weren't, it'd be really hard to get
out of bed after getting

[00:01:28]
life pummeled out of you the day before
because you had a series of failures.

[00:01:32]
Yeah.
Or you'd have murdered employees.

[00:01:35]
Yeah.
I mean, I would never say that, but

[00:01:40]
I think that you bring up a really
important thing, which is resilience.

[00:01:45]
And
I think that's something that you and I

[00:01:49]
share as entrepreneurs,
as being generally resilient people where

[00:01:53]
we get a lot of no's and we
get more no's than we do

[00:01:57]
yes's.

[00:01:58]
Except our yes when we get there are

[00:02:00]
really big and it allows us
to move the agenda forward.
