August 20th saw what would have been the 101 birthday of
Noni Jabavu born into a family of intellectuals in the Eastern Cape. Jabavu went on to become an iconic woman in African literary.

While at WiSER (Wits Institute for Social and Economic Research) she continues her long-term project, writing a biography of Helen Nontando Jabavu (Noni), the author of Drawn in Colour: African Contrasts (1960) and The Ochre People: Scenes from a South African Life (1963)
