Assistant Inspector General of Police Asan Kasingye is one of the most notable senior police officers in Uganda. Just a few seconds on his Twitter handle @AKasingye will leave you in stitches but will also show you that a police officer is an everyday human.

I had a conversation with him and there were very many points to cover that the two hours we had were not enough. I sought to know why he chose to be an officer and how his career has been ever since he joined the forces in the late 80's.

As he looks forward to retirement, it is only befitting that we wish him a Happy Labor Day as we enjoy this conversation. Listen to this.

Selflessness is always going to be connected to purpose. Even beyond selflessness that sees other people benefiting from our passion, there is the interconnectedness of life.

Our purpose is not just ours. It fits into a grander ultimate purpose that only the Divine knows and orchestrates. So ultimately, we don't really own anything, at least technically. That's why our purpose pursuit needs the hand of the Divine. Listen to this.

God is the one who put natural laws in place. To live a natural life is not sin. To ignore natural laws, systems, order and principles in seeking the supernatural daily is a bit off. Even God himself, in sending Jesus was obeying the natural laws he set up.

But there will be moments where we will need miracles to operate in our purpose pursuit. There is no question about that. What we need to learn is how we can balance between pursuit of miracles and application of natural laws.
