I'm getting in a few days early before the full moon to share this episode on a passage from Women Who Run with the Wolves by Dr Clarissa Pinkola Estes. I wanted to give you plenty of notice to set aside some time on the weekend to do these reflections in your journal under the clarity of that bright, full light of the moon.

Hello everyone and welcome to episode 60 of the Life Right Here podcast - it’s been nearly 6 weeks since my last episode and over a month since my silent hiking and meditation retreat which I promised a follow up chat about in my last episode but there’s good reason why I’ve not been on the mic and in your ears and I just realised I’ve only done 10 episodes this year and it’s not long until August so my apologies - I’m still here but have just needed some space.

If you’re on my mailing list you would’ve received a fairly candid email from me last week about the struggles I’ve been facing with perimenopausal symptoms but in particular anxiety that is wiping me out at certain points in my cycle so I’d also like to share a little about that today and what I plan to do about it because I always have a plan!

So this episode is a bit of a ‘behind the scenes of my life’ one with some detail about the retreat and the lessons learned that I’m still integrating, the inner shifts that are taking place and also as I said the challenges of my life of late.

Welcome to episode 59 of The Life Right Here podcast - I’m thrilled to be back with you for a solo episode - it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these.

I was listening to a popular podcast the other day and Kathryn May was being interviewed about burnout - she is the author of the book Wintering (which I’ve reflected on in episode 36 and I’ll link to that episode here) but she said something about going on a meditation retreat or course and it was a man running it and she decided that many of these practices where you need say 20 minutes twice a day must have been devised by men who had no children to look after. That essentially as women we had to find stillness and beauty amidst the daily chores and the doing - that we couldn’t possibly find 20 minutes to ourselves.

And I do agree with that to some extent - there’s of course a place for that - I mean that’s the whole basis of mindfulness practice - Thich Nhat Hanh himself taught that washing the dishes is meditation - however I do think there are other things that get in the way of women in particular but humans in general making space for actually being still. And that’s what I’d like to reflect on in today’s episode and give my perspective and encourage you to create those spaces in your day.

Welcome to episode 58 of the LRH podcast - I have a very special interview for you today with one of my teachers of Ayurveda. I had a number of personal questions to ask Katie Rose and it was so wonderful to learn more about her journey in yoga and her views on activism and the path of Bhakti yoga.

Katie Rose is a yoga teacher, ayurveda guide, doula and author with over 25 years of experience in the world of wellness. Katie was the manager of the prestigious TriYoga centre in London before moving to Sydney and opening Samadhi Yoga in 2004 followed by Jivamukti Yoga Sydney which at its peak was a four-studio business and is still a thriving community today.

Her popular online courses have helped hundreds of women from all over the world to empower themselves. She is the founder and host of the annual Bhakti Women Online Yoga Summit and the author of several internationally available books including ‘Mindful Living’  and ‘The Yoga of Birth’. Most recently she authored 'Trust Life, Trust Yourself, Find Peace' .

Katie helps women go from feeling stuck and overwhelmed to living a life that is vibrant, creative and abundant. She lives in Sydney, Australia with her five children in a loud and busy household where her meditation practice keeps her sane!

Katie Rose is someone who’s teachings and offerings  I just so admire. I’m thrilled to welcome her to the podcast and share this conversation with you - it’s a glimpse into the journey and life of someone who has lived and breathed yoga and Ayurveda for a lifetime (or perhaps many life times)...I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed chatting with her.
