In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Matt Harmody, retired emergency physician, living kidney donor, endurance athlete, and advocate, for a powerful conversation about what actually gets in the way of life-changing decisions.
After watching his father battle kidney failure, Matt made the decision to donate a kidney to a stranger through the National Kidney Registry’s paired-exchange program. While that story is remarkable on its own, this conversation goes deeper than the decision itself.
Together, we explore the space between knowing and doing: the internal tension so many people experience when something feels clear, but taking action feels complicated.
This episode isn’t about medicine. It’s about fear, hesitation, responsibility, and what it really takes to move forward when you know something matters.
In this conversation, you’ll hear:
• What it feels like to “know” something before you can explain it
• Why clarity doesn’t always lead to action
• The role fear and responsibility play in big decisions
• What keeps people stuck even when the answer feels obvious
• How Matt moved from awareness to action
• Why action often creates clarity, not the other way around
• The advice Matt would give his younger self before making that decision
• What anyone sitting in hesitation needs to hear right now
If you’ve ever felt stuck between what you know and what you’re doing, this episode will meet you in that space.
