📖 What We Discuss in This Episode
In this encouraging and practical episode, Brad, Chance, and Robert talk about six additional habits that can strengthen your spiritual life and help you walk more faithfully with Jesus.
🌀 1. The Habit of Serving Others
We explore what it really means to serve—not as a duty, but as a joyful response to Christ’s love. True service flows from a heart shaped by grace and compassion toward others.
💦 2. The Habit of Remembering Your Baptism
Your baptism was not just an event—it’s a defining moment in your spiritual journey. We talk about why returning to that identity and commitment regularly helps keep your faith anchored and your purpose clear.
🌿 3. The Habit of Rest / Refresh
Rest isn’t optional—it’s a gift God gives to renew our bodies, minds, and spirits. The guys discuss spiritual rest as well as practical rhythms that help us find refreshment in a busy world.
💛 4. The Habit of Enduring Difficulty with Kindness and Patience
Trials are part of the Christian life—but our response matters. We reflect on how patience and kindness shape us into Christlike people, even when circumstances are tough.
✨ 5. The Habit of Confession and Repentance
Confession isn’t just about admitting wrong—it’s about restoration. We talk about cultivating a posture of honesty before God and others, and how repentance leads to transformation.
🚶 6. The Habit of Intentional Obedience
Faith becomes real in the choices we make every day. The team digs into what it looks like to obey God not occasionally—but intentionally and consistently.
In this episode of Preachers in Training, host Robert Hatfield is joined by Doug Burleson to talk about the upcoming 90th Annual Bible Lectureship at Freed-Hardeman University.
The 2026 Lectureship will take place February 1–5, 2026, and its theme is: “Our God, His Kingdom: Seeing the Christ in Matthew.”
Together, Robert and Doug discuss the vision behind this year’s theme, the unique way Matthew presents Jesus as King, and why a focused study of the kingdom of heaven is especially timely for preachers, teachers, and church leaders today.
In the first episode of the new season, Wayne welcomes his high school best friend, Chris Butler. Together, they explore Chris’s personal journey to faith, the ripple effect of his conversion on his family, and the ongoing work of spiritual transformation that continues long after baptism.

In this episode of Wifey Wednesdays, Emily explores what it truly means to be wholly sacrificed—completely surrendered to Jesus, not partially devoted or spiritually half-hearted. Using Scripture from Romans 6 and Colossians 3, this episode lays the foundation for a season focused on full devotion to Christ and the impact that devotion has on our marriages.
“He endured the cross, despising the shame…” — Hebrews 12:2
Roman crucifixion was intentionally degrading, designed to humiliate its victims publicly and permanently. In this episode of Today With Jesus, we slow down and look carefully at the shame our Lord endured on Calvary—and why He willingly bore it.
Christy and Kristen begin Season 3 with a discussion of several instances of humans "seeing" God in the Old Testament, how we can better clear out the distractions to gaze at God in our own lives, and thinking through why fire is often used in the Bible to signify the presence of God.

🔜 Coming Next:
This conversation isn’t over! In the next episode, we’ll continue with “Six MORE Habits Every Christian Should Start (or Restart)”—practical, challenging, and encouraging habits that help us live faithfully for Jesus.
Is it true that all who are rich are miserly, stingy folk without any redeeming qualities? It might a good idea to rethink this trope as Andrew covers a study on Income Inequality and Generosity and makes some application from Paul's writings to Timothy.
In this opening episode of Season 23 of Preachers in Training, Robert Hatfield sits down with longtime friend and fellow minister Paul Sain for a deeply personal and encouraging conversation about grief, caregiving, and the calling to bear one another’s burdens.
Paul shares about the loss of his wife, LaDon, in October 2025 and the journey that led him through seasons of caregiving, hospice, and grief. Out of that experience, Paul has developed a renewed heart for ministering to others who are walking similar paths — those caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s, families navigating hospice, and individuals learning to live faithfully with grief.
Paul recently authored a book titled Our Journey Down Alzheimer’s Lane, which chronicles his experience as LaDon’s caregiver and offers practical, compassionate guidance for those walking alongside loved ones in decline, as well as for those seeking to minister well to caregivers and the grieving.
He has also begun a monthly “Burden Bearing” class and an accompanying email newsletter designed to encourage and equip Christians to walk with others through heavy seasons of life.
This episode is a gentle reminder that ministry is not only about preaching truth — it is about walking with people in their pain, listening well, and loving faithfully.
