Jenny Richardson didn't expect to be diving back into the dating scene in her 40s. Or ever, really.
Jen met her husband Will back in university at 20, and they built a pretty great life with two awesome kids and a couple of cats. Until Will passed away unexpectedly at 46, and the future they'd planned vanished in an instant.
Jen spent a few years healing, raising her girls, and retraining in a new career. Then, at around the 4-year mark, she started wondering what "moving forward" looked like and nervously anticipated the perils of online dating.
With the support of a mentor, devouring books, adapting her coaching skills, and creating systems, Jen tested her dating theories in the real world, figuring out how to find the relationship she craved. Jen now supports her clients to dive into dating with curiosity, confidence, and clarity.
In this conversation, Jen and I discussed:
- How Jenny met her husband, Will, and how life shifted after Will died unexpectedly. Plus the dark humour we rely on during grief.
- When Jen decided she was ready to try dating (although she wasn't "over" her grief), navigating the online dating scene, especially as a solo Mum with two daughters, and what she has learned about herself through dating and starting new relationships
- Jen's business journey, from retraining in a whole new career, to the pivot from children's emotion coach to dating coach.
- The wisdom and tips Jen has for those who are considering leaping into the current dating landscape, including the importance of taking action and learning as you go.
