In this week’s episode, I talk about something I know resonates with so many of us – the idea that growth only happens outside your comfort zone. I’ve been there myself, running two businesses and prepping for a bodybuilding competition, all while juggling life’s demands. It’s not easy, but that’s exactly why stepping outside our comfort zones is so important. We can’t expect to grow or reach our full potential if we stay in the same place, doing the same things that feel safe and easy.
Why prioritising is key? We often feel overwhelmed by the number of things we need to get done, but part of pushing beyond our comfort zone is learning how to manage that. It’s about looking at what truly matters in both the short and long term, and giving those tasks the attention they deserve. Yes, some things will be tough, but facing those challenges head-on is what drives progress. There’s no room for growth if we’re constantly putting off the hard stuff!
Mindset is everything. You can have all the plans and goals in the world, but if your mindset isn’t in the right place, you’ll struggle to push past the limits you’ve set for yourself. I share how I’ve worked on this in my own life, especially in my bodybuilding journey. It’s been all about confronting those inner barriers and knowing that stepping into discomfort is part of the process – whether it’s lifting heavier weights or taking bold steps in business.
But let’s not forget the importance of rest. We tend to think that pushing ourselves non-stop is the only way to grow, but that’s not true. There’s a fine line between pushing yourself and burning out. I talk about how taking a step back to rest and recharge isn’t a setback – it’s essential. You’ll be amazed at how much more energy and clarity you have after giving yourself the time to breathe. This is part of getting uncomfortable too – accepting that rest is productive.
We can’t also overlook the importance of a support system. As a coach, I know how important it is to have the right people around you. Having a mentor, a coach, or a supportive community, or others who can push you, guide you, and lift you up is absolutely critical to success. Growth might happen outside your comfort zone, but that doesn’t mean you have to do it alone. Surround yourself with those who believe in you, and you’ll be amazed at how much further you can go.
Moreover, it’s important as well to get comfortable with saying “no” or stepping away from things that don’t serve your growth. We’re conditioned to think we have to do it all, but real growth comes when you focus on the right things. Whether it’s in business or personal life, sometimes the hardest step is learning to let go of what’s holding you back, even if it feels safe or familiar.
So, let me leave you with this: the challenges you’re facing now are part of your story. They’re not permanent, and they’re definitely not a sign that you’re not cut out for this. Keep going, keep pushing, but also, remember to breathe. You’ve got this!

In this episode, I'm talking about something super important: SIS – Sales, Investment, and Support. These three areas are absolutely key when it comes to running a successful landscaping business or any business, for that matter. I often get asked how to balance these three, and today, I’m here to break it down for you. We’ll cover why you need to focus on each of them equally, and how they all tie together to push your business forward.
Let’s start with sales – the lifeblood of any business. You’ve got to make sure that you’re bringing in enough work, consistently. But it’s not just about selling any old thing; it’s about selling what’s right for you, your clients, and your business. You don’t want to waste time chasing the wrong kind of jobs. I’ll share some tips on how to ensure your sales process is smooth and effective, making sure every lead counts.
Then there’s investment. And no, I’m not just talking about money, although that’s a big part of it. I’m talking about investing your time, your energy, and yes, your finances, into the right areas of your business. It’s about being smart with where you put your resources to get the best return. I'll walk you through how to prioritise what’s going to give you the biggest impact, whether it’s tools, training, or technology.
Support is often overlooked, but it’s very important. Whether it’s support from your team, your mentors, or even your clients, you can’t do this alone. Building that network around you can make all the difference when things get tough, or when you’re ready to take things to the next level. I’ll explain how to create the right support system, so you’re not just holding things together, but thriving.
I’ve seen far too many business owners focus too heavily on just one of these areas and wonder why they’re not progressing as they should. When you get the balance of SIS right, that’s when the magic happens. Your business starts to flow, and you’ll find yourself hitting your targets without burning out.
So, if you’re feeling like you’re stuck, maybe it’s time to take a step back and evaluate your SIS balance. Once you’ve got that sorted, there’s nothing stopping you from taking your business to new heights.

In this week's podcast episode, I'm discussing about a topic that hits close to home—dealing with change in business. Now, let's be honest, we all love the idea of growth and progress, but when it comes to change, it can really throw us off balance, can’t it? The truth is, change is inevitable, and whether you're running a landscaping business or doing something completely different, learning to embrace it is key.
I start by talking about why resistance to change is so common. It’s human nature to stick with what’s comfortable, but the problem with that is you end up staying stuck. I’ve experienced this firsthand in both my businesses and personal life. I used to hold on tight to routines and systems, thinking, "If it ain't broke, why fix it?" But when you hold on too tightly, you miss out on opportunities that could really take things to the next level.
One of the biggest lessons I've learned is that sometimes, change comes from the outside—maybe it’s the market shifting, a new competitor popping up, or even something as simple as a client wanting something different. Whatever it is, you have to be ready to adapt. It's all about mindset, right? Keeping an open mind and being ready to pivot can mean the difference between staying ahead or falling behind. And trust me, I know how hard it can be to get out of your comfort zone.
Now, I don’t just talk about business here. I bring this back to personal growth, too. You know I’m into bodybuilding, and prepping for competitions has taught me so much about change and how to handle it. Whether it’s changing my training routine, diet, or even how I handle my rest days, I've had to make adjustments constantly to keep moving forward. It’s about recognising that change doesn’t have to be scary—it can be a powerful tool for growth.
I also share some really useful tips on how to make change easier to manage. It’s all about planning, being flexible, and having clear goals. You’ll hear me talk a lot about goal setting, but that’s because it’s so important. If you don’t have a clear idea of where you’re heading, then change will feel like chaos. When you know your goals, you can break them down and see how change can fit into the bigger picture.
I want to leave you with this thought: Change is going to happen whether you’re ready for it or not. The key is how you respond to it. Will you resist it and let it hold you back, or will you embrace it and let it propel you forward? At the end of the day, growth is about moving through change, not avoiding it. So, let's stop fighting it and start working with it.

In this week’s podcast, I am discussing about self-belief, a huge factor in why we either achieve or fall short of our goals. Many of us as business owners often struggle with doubts that have been ingrained in us from childhood or our past experiences. It’s these doubts that can really hold us back. After completing my NLP course recently, which focused on helping clients change their behaviours and set better goals, it’s clear that self-belief plays a massive role in shaping our reality. We can all achieve anything – but it all starts with believing it’s possible for us.
Over the last 18 months, my bodybuilding journey has been a personal example of setting a big, scary goal and learning how to work through those doubts. I decided to compete in bodybuilding to push myself out of my comfort zone, setting myself a huge goal. And it wasn’t just about reaching the finish line – it was about growing, changing habits, and developing as a person. I didn’t set a timeline initially because I had no idea how long it would take, but I surrounded myself with the right people who believed in me and helped me through the process.
Now, when we set goals, it’s important to look at them from three angles. We’ve all got the inner dreamer – the one who comes up with the big, exciting ideas. But then we’ve got the realist, who steps in and asks, ‘How are we going to achieve this?’ And finally, the critic, who looks for gaps and potential challenges in the plan. I’ve used this process in both my personal life and business, and it’s helped me map out realistic and achievable steps to reach my goals. It’s about knowing what’s possible, what habits need to change, and surrounding yourself with the right support.
For me, the realist made me give up alcohol and find a new coach who could push me further. It wasn’t easy, but it was necessary to achieve my goal. The critic in me identified that posing on stage would be my biggest challenge – I’m naturally shy in front of crowds. So, I worked with a posing coach who told me to practise every day, even if just for a few minutes. It didn’t come naturally, but with consistent effort, it’s slowly becoming more comfortable. This is a lesson we can all take into our goals – practice and patience are key.
Now, with just days to go before I step on stage, I can confidently say that my self-belief has grown massively. I didn’t start this journey looking or feeling like a bodybuilder, but through consistent work and support, I’m now ready to go for it. I’ve learned that surrounding yourself with people who believe in you can be a game-changer – and that belief, both from yourself and others, is what can drive you forward.
So, as we head into the last quarter of the year, take some time to review your goals. Think about your dreamer, your realist, and your critic. And remember, if your goals aren’t a little bit scary, they might not be big enough.
Let’s keep pushing towards those dreams!

In this week’s podcast, I discuss the theme of getting back to school, back to work, and most importantly, back to focusing on your business. With the kids finally settled into their routines, it’s the perfect time for us, as business owners, to take a proper look at where our businesses stand and what needs attention. Whether you’ve got children or not, September is a great time to reflect on the busy summer period and start thinking about the future.
I talk about the three key signs that your business might need some work—cashflow, customer relationships, and operational efficiency, which I like to call the CCO. If your cash flow is struggling, if your customer relationships are tense, and if your operations are inefficient, it’s a clear signal that something needs to change. I share a personal story from my own business, Aura Landscapes, where we faced these exact issues and had to take a step back to reassess and make some tough decisions.
Operational efficiency was a major challenge for us, and it had a domino effect on our cash flow and customer relationships. Jobs were overrunning, customers were getting annoyed, and the whole business felt like it was spiralling. To turn things around, I had to take responsibility as the business owner and work closely with my team, especially my admin superstar, Annmaree. She helped me dig into the data and see where we were going wrong, which led to some major restructuring in our business.
One of the biggest changes we made was downsizing our team to the smallest it’s ever been since we started 14 years ago. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was necessary to get our cash flow and operations back on track. We also had to communicate openly with our clients about delays and changes, which helped smooth things over. Communication is key, especially when things aren’t going to plan, and it’s something I can’t stress enough.
I also emphasise the importance of knowing your numbers and using cash flow forecasting to make informed decisions. I’ve seen firsthand how liberating it can be for business owners when they finally understand their cash flow and can plan for the future with confidence. It’s not just about making decisions on the fly; it’s about having a clear, real-time picture of your business’s financial health and using that to guide your strategy.
To wrap up, I encourage all of you to take a good look at your business and think about where you might need to put in some work. Remember, it’s not just about keeping things ticking over—it’s about making sure your business is thriving and that you’re on track to reach your goals. If you’ve got any questions or need help with anything, you know where to find me. And on a more personal note, I share a bit about my own recent loss, reminding us all that it’s okay to feel and that business and life are deeply intertwined. So, until next time, keep pushing forward, keep looking after your business, and most importantly, keep looking after yourselves.

In this week’s episode of the Limitless Landscapers Podcast, I’m discussing about a powerful marketing hack that can transform your business and make your marketing efforts so much easier. It all starts with one thing – market research. Even though I’ve been in the landscaping industry for nearly 15 years and have a strong background in marketing and sales, I still make it a point to keep my ear to the ground. Doing competitor research and getting to know your potential clients is crucial, no matter how long you’ve been in the game.
You might think you know what your clients want just because you’ve spoken to a few of them, but the truth is, people’s needs and wants change over time. That’s why it’s so important to regularly engage in market research. I realised I hadn’t done this in a while, and with plans to develop TLC in new ways, I’m turning to you for help. I want to get to know you better, understand what you need in your business right now, and provide you with the support and resources that will truly benefit you.
To make this happen, I’ve launched a ‘Feedback for a Freebie’ campaign. I’m asking you to take 10 minutes to fill in a Google form or book a quick call with me. By sharing your insights, you’ll not only help me tailor my content and services to your needs, but you’ll also receive a freebie as a thank you. It could be a coaching session, a template, a masterclass, or any other resource that fits your current needs. This exchange is all about creating value for both of us.
Now, market research isn’t just about gathering information – it’s about using that information to shape your marketing messages so they truly resonate with your clients. By understanding the exact words your clients use and the specific challenges they face, you can create marketing content that speaks directly to them. This removes the guesswork and makes your marketing more effective. It’s a strategy I’m applying not just to TLC but also to my landscaping business, Aura Landscapes.
But remember, market research requires effort. It’s not enough to just ask the questions; you need to really listen to the answers and use that information to improve your products, services, and marketing. This isn’t about surface-level tactics; it’s about going deeper, understanding your clients’ true desires, and then delivering on that. It’s a powerful way to connect with your clients and stand out in a crowded market.
So, if you’re ready to not only grow your business but to truly understand your clients on a deeper level, I urge you to get involved in this market research process. Please fill out this feedback form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdSwYoaapzAT6Pt5euZ64DYQTynM5e6oiKTqB-osP4A1PhLcA/viewform and your input could be the key to unlocking new opportunities for both of us. Don’t let this chance slip by and let's create something exceptional.

In this week’s podcast episode, I talk all about getting the most out of your business by using some proven strategies. I kick things off by talking about the importance of systems and processes in your business. It's not the most glamorous subject, but it’s one of the most essential. I share how having the right systems in place can save you time, reduce stress, and help you deliver a consistent service to your clients. You can’t just rely on memory or a to-do list; you've got to have a proper system that keeps everything ticking along smoothly.
I then touch on the subject of pricing. It’s something I see a lot of people struggle with, but I’m here to tell you that getting your pricing right is important if you want to make a profit and grow your business. I discuss how to approach pricing in a way that ensures you’re covering all your costs while also making a healthy margin. If you’re undercharging for your services, you’re not doing anyone any favours—not yourself, not your clients, and certainly not your business.
Next, I get into the nitty-gritty of client relationships and how to build strong, lasting connections with the people you work with. It’s all about communication, setting expectations, and delivering on your promises. I share some tips on how to handle difficult clients and situations that might arise, and I emphasise the importance of always being professional and maintaining your integrity, even when things get tough.
Moreover, the importance of mindset in business. I talk about how having the right mindset can help you push through challenges and stay motivated, even when the going gets tough. I share some of my own experiences on how to cultivate a positive mindset and keep your eyes on the prize.
Towards the end of the episode, I bring everything together by discussing how all these elements—systems, pricing, client relationships, and mindset—work together to create a strong, successful business. I encourage you to take a step back and look at your own business with fresh eyes, to see where you might need to make some changes or improvements.
So, if you’re ready to take your business to the next level, this episode is for you. Remember, it’s all about taking action and making those small, consistent changes that lead to big results. Let’s get to work and make it happen!

For this week's episode, I want to talk about something really important—buying back your time with the right hires. This topic came up in my mastermind group this morning, where we were discussing pivotal moments in business and what we’d do differently if we could start over. We all agreed that hiring the right people, particularly admin and project management staff, is absolutely key to growing your landscaping or design business.
When you first start your business, you’re doing everything yourself—wearing every hat, handling every role. But as you grow, you realise that you need help, and that’s when hiring becomes crucial. The two hires we all agreed on as being the most important are admin staff and project managers. These roles free you up to focus on what you do best—growing the business, bringing in sales, and steering the ship.
I shared my own experience with hiring an admin. For both TLC and Aura Landscapes, having someone I trust in that admin position has been invaluable. It’s one of those things where, in hindsight, I wish I’d done it sooner. My admin, Annmaree, takes care of all the tasks that used to cause me stress and overwhelm—things like invoicing, payroll, and even dealing with client issues. She’s become a barrier between me and the day-to-day chaos, allowing me to focus on the bigger picture.
Overwhelm is something we all face as business owners. It’s easy to get bogged down with everything, and when that happens, you can find yourself either fighting to keep up or wanting to bury your head in the sand. Delegating those anxiety-inducing tasks to someone like Annmaree has made a world of difference for me. She handles the things I used to dread, which has not only reduced my stress but also made the business run smoother.
Another key hire we discussed was a project manager. If you’ve got a team, having a good project manager is worth their weight in gold. They can save you time and money by managing projects more efficiently, keeping things on track and under budget. This not only frees up your time to focus on growing the business but also ensures that everything runs like clockwork.
So, as you think about growing your business, consider who can support you on that journey. Don’t be afraid to bring in the help you need, whether that’s an admin, a project manager, or both. It’s all about making sure you’re using your time wisely and focusing on what really matters. And remember, if you need support or guidance, I’m here as The Landscapers Coach, ready to help you take your business to the next level.

In this week's podcast, I talk about an ever-important topic of time management and how it ties into achieving our goals. We all struggle with time, don’t we? But the real question is whether we’re making time for what truly matters to us. It’s easy to say, “I didn’t have time,” but is that really the case, or are we just not prioritising what’s important?
Today, I had a bit of a wake-up call. With the six-week school holidays in full swing and childcare practically non-existent, plus Mike being busy on the tools, I was faced with a choice. I could skip the gym because I didn’t have time, or I could get up at 4:30 AM to fit it in before the day kicked off. I’m not a morning person, but my goal of competing in six weeks is so important to me that I made the choice to rise early and get it done. That choice reminded me of how often we let time slip away because we don’t prioritise our goals.
I’ve been thinking a lot about how we prepare for success. It’s not just about setting goals; it’s about making sure we’ve set ourselves up to achieve them. Last night, I prepared everything – my gym kit, supplements, even my coffee cup – so when the alarm went off at 4:30, all I had to do was get up and go. Without that preparation, it would have been so easy to hit snooze and miss the gym, which would have set the tone for a frustrating day.
It got me thinking – are we preparing ourselves in our businesses the same way? Are we setting aside time for the actions that will move us closer to our goals, or are we getting bogged down in day-to-day tasks that don’t actually move the needle forward? It’s so easy to let others dictate our time or to spend our days putting out fires rather than focusing on what really matters.
I also had a productive meeting with Annmaree, my admin superstar, where we tackled some of those necessary but non-goal-related tasks like cash flow and finance agreements. These tasks are important, but they’re not going to push Aura Landscapes to the next level. What will push us forward are the actions I’ve set for myself, like setting up our calendar to start Facebook ads and generating new enquiries.
One thing that’s become clear to me is that we need to be intentional with our time. By mapping out our goals and working backwards to identify the key actions, we can make sure we’re spending our time wisely. It’s not about sacrificing other things but about making sure we’re focused on what truly matters. I’m going to experiment with those early starts, maybe once a week, to see if I can get a few hours of focused work done before the day’s chaos begins.
So, I’ll leave you with this: are you making time for what’s important to you? And are you preparing yourself to succeed? If your goals are truly important, you’ll find a way to fit them into your schedule. And don’t forget, if you want to help you better, fill out this feedback form: https://forms.gle/dESf5TWJ8ne8fziSA. Let’s make sure we’re all moving towards our goals, whatever they may be. Remember, time is what we make of it, and preparation is the key to making it work for us. Let’s smash the rest of August together and make it count!

For this episode, I want to share a bit about my week. We just got back from a lovely holiday in Devon. The sunshine was out, the location was brilliant, and it came at the perfect time because we had to put our 15-year-old dog to sleep two weeks ago. It was a tough decision, but it was the right one as she was suffering from bone cancer and could hardly walk. It was heartbreaking, but the holiday gave us a bit of a break from it all.
Now we're back, and it's full-on with the school holidays. With two kids at home, it's a bit of a juggle, isn't it? I was chatting with a client who's facing the same struggles. Every year, I tell myself I’ll plan better for this, but here I am again. I want to spend time with my children during their break, but the business doesn’t stop, does it? Plus, we've got a hectic football schedule that doesn’t take a holiday either. But I keep reminding myself that we only have a few more weeks until we get back to some sort of routine.
All this got me thinking about the old sales acronym KISS—Keep It Simple, Stupid. It’s something I used to apply to sales systems, but now I see it applies to life as well. Lately, things have been a bit chaotic with the landscaping business, and Mike and I have had to make some big decisions about how we run things. I keep coming back to the idea of keeping it simple. We've tried all sorts of complex setups with lots of services and staff, but maybe it’s time to strip it back to basics and focus on what truly matters.
I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting lately, especially as Mike and I think about our future. What do we really want out of life? More time together as a family, more simplicity, and definitely more joy. I used to think success meant having the biggest business, making millions, and always striving for the next big thing. But now, I see that my definition of success has changed. I want a life where we’re not just working ourselves into the ground. I want to focus on being healthy, growing our own food, and maybe even having a farm where we can have more dogs and live more self-sufficiently.
It's all about balance, isn’t it? I’m not saying we’re going to up and move to the countryside tomorrow, but I am saying that it’s time to re-evaluate. What do we actually want? How can we simplify our lives to achieve those goals? For me, success is now about having a business that runs smoothly and gives us the life we want without all the stress and hustle. It’s about enjoying our hobbies, spending time with our kids, and just living a life that feels fulfilling.
So, I want to challenge you to think about your own life and business. Are you making things more complicated than they need to be? Are you still chasing goals that don’t really resonate with who you are now? It’s okay to change your mind and to redefine what success means to you. The key is to keep it simple and focus on what truly makes you happy.
