The COVID-19 pandemic and the stay at home orders put in place because of it have had us all singing the blues… that is, unless you literally sang the blues for a living, in which case you probably haven’t been performing live as music concerts have not been happening. But that isn’t the case for local Winona musician, Mike Munson. Mike has taken his act to the front yard. He has been doing yard concerts around town so that people can sit in their own front lawn, a safe distance apart and enjoy some live music. I’m Bill Stoneberg. Echo of the Bluebird is a songwriter series inspired by the Bluebird Café in Nashville and brought to life by Mid West Music Fest. In each episode of the series, three songwriters join each other on stage to share their songs and the stories behind them. The shows consist of three songwriters taking turns playing their songs and telling stories about the songs, the craft of songwriting and life in general. The first show of the series kicked off November 15th with Lee Henke, Palmer T. Lee and Jaybone Bell. Tonight we visit with MWMF Managing Director Abby Lee and Creative Director Parker Forsell to talk about the series, the inspiration for it and who we might see next at Echo of the Bluebird Shows.
