Have you ever heard the expression, “No Pain, No Gain?” Roots to the saying go back as far as 650 BC, to Socrates, to Benjamin Franklin, to Jane Fonda and the workout video craze. I am not saying it is always true but often in life, obtaining things of value require great effort. Such was the entry of the people of Israel into the Promised Land. The land had great resources but it was full of adversaries. Land flowing with milk and honey had large people in it that had to be overcome. And they were with God’s help.
God wants us in the Promised Land, not the actual land, but in the spiritual Promised Land with Him. And to get there, we face obstacles. We have to overcome some giants in our lives and surrender to God’s will for our lives.
