Do you dream of writing a book?
Perhaps you’ve already written one and now you dream of more people reading it.
Or perhaps like me, your next book is just about done, and is ready to get into the hands of the wonderful people who need to hear its message.
So here we are (you and I) now faced with the challenge of launching said book.
After some umming and aahing I made the decision to launch my new book, The Freedom Solution, with an online campaign only.
With my first ‘properly’ published book, by which I mean it wasn’t just a home made pdf I sold online, I did quite a bit of traditional media.
BBC radio picked up my publisher’s press release and so I went on for an interview about The Niche Expert.
The idea of it was a lot more nerve wracking than the reality as is so often the case!
Then I capitalised on that momentum and Waterstones, a big book chain in the UK, hosted a book launch event for me which again was pretty cool.
Ever since my first thoughts of being an author, I’ve dreamed of seeing my book on the shelves in a big store so I was able to tick that off my bucket list.
I don’t have a bucket list as such (found the movie too sad to inspire me to write one) but you know what I mean.
I dutifully did the rounds of my local networking groups such as the Chamber of Commerce. I did some speaking events and people bought copies of my book which I happily signed.
The library even hosted an event for me and The Niche Expert was featured in some local magazines, in the library catalogue and in the window display.
So I did at least some of what you’re told you ‘should’ do when launching a new book and The Niche Expert became an international best-seller.
I have to say that that wasn’t down to the traditional media I did.
But of all that was great — at least my ego enjoyed it.
And so back to today and how to launch this new book.
The Freedom Solution: More Perfect Clients & Profits In Less Time is inspired by the four entrepreneurial freedoms I identified when writing it. One of these freedoms is Location freedom.
Location freedom is the freedom to work from anywhere and so it makes perfect sense that I’ll launch this new book in the same way in which I operate my business.
TIP: When you come to launch your book, have a think about what makes sense for you and resist following the crowd because a lot of book marketing advice is now from a bygone era.
Less and less authors are doing book tours in person and more and more are getting to grips with spreading their message online.
No matter what your book topic, the chances are you can attract more of your readers online than in your local community, unless for instance your book is a murder mystery set in your local area.
And so we’re now in a perfect moment in the history of book publishing to launch books however we damn well please!
I’ve always enjoyed breaking rules that serve no good purpose so I’ll be launching my new book around the world from my little home office in the Suffolk sticks …
And on that note, this week, there’s no challenge but instead an invitation.
I’m excited to invite you to my online Freedom Party to celebrate the publication of The Freedom Solution.
As with all of my events, you can attend from anywhere and all you’ll need is access to the internet — in fact you can even dial in by phone if you prefer.
Get all the event deets and please help me celebrate by RSVPing here: Freedom Party
